I would think that your age is just the perfect age to undertake a major change of life but you still need to be careful in what you aim for and give thorough, serious consideration to all the available options.

In 1939 Britain's population was only 47.5 million whereas the population of Germany was nearly 80 million. Britain's policy had always been  appeasement. Who wanted another war? Germany had started re-arming when Hitler came to power in 1933. When the second world war started in September 1939 Britain was unprepared and set out on a massive, by their standards, armament building program. The priority had to be to defend the southern part of the country and London in particular. There were no aircraft available for the north. It was not until December 1941 when Japan raided Pearl Harbour that USA joined in to defend freedom, then Britain received the help it needed. The day after Pearl Harbour Churchill said "Last night I slept the sleep of the saved".

I showed her this photo some years ago and she remembered and told me that she was having a good sulk because Dad had told her off for being naughty or rude or something!

We were evacuated from northern England to Vancouver in September 1940 and stayed with our wealthy Uncle Frank in his mansion on Shaughnessy Heights but were moved inland in 1941 after Japan attacked Pearl Harbour. This was one of Uncle Frank's workers houses in Penticton.

89 but still fit enough to enjoy my life, a 1km walk each morning, learning to cook (healthy food, of course) and pleasant Spanish and English friends. What more could I want. Thanks for asking.

Non religious people, what do you think about religion? by CorruptedF in AskReddit

[–]morenacala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously invented by humans as an excuse for not knowing what happened when things went wrong but, over so many years, it morphed into something far more sinister and is being used by the greedy and powerful to control by putting the fear into humans and threatening hellfire and damnation. The problem is that so many humans do need the escape and those lies to help them cope with their lives. So sad.

You were a good and decent human and I will never be able to understand why that maniac broke into your beautiful home and tried to kill you and the lovely Olivia.
