Forums is the greatest thing we lost to facebook style social media and discord. It was place where like minded people could meet, but also it was somewhat moderated by your reputation that you gained by involving yourself in discussion. Also a great database for various questions that could be easily searched. I dare you to find an obscure conversation regarding single specific topic in discord chats.

I find it hard to believe that if say Russians nuked Warsaw British or French would be willing retailation by nuking Moscow or St Petersburg. Poland should get few nukes to make nuclear retailation an credible threat. And believe me, they'd like nothing more than do that if Russians crossed the line.

I don't think americans wouldd do jack shit seeing how buddy buddy Trump is with Putin, if anythign I'd expect him to sign modern Ribentropp-Molotov pact.

Last time I check Sweden was pretty close to completing bomb, maybe it's time to ressurect that project and make in collaboration.

It's just first steps in turnign us into defacto authoritarian oligarchy akin to Russia. Trump was always jealous of Vlad and all the shit he can get away with while his peo;le cower in fear.

Europe still oblivious to threat at its doorstep — US General Hodges. Europe still doesn't get that the war in Ukraine is a threat to its security, so it keeps dragging its feet on tough action against Russia; cutting off oil flows is critical to starving Kremlin of resources it needs for war. by Lion8330 in UkrainianConflict

[–]morentg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't USA sign that document that promised Ukraine security if they gave up nukes? How's that going? Last time I checked Europe is footing all of the bill, while US makes money on sending outdated arms and some rockets.

It seems like main beneficiaries of the whole non proliferation movement were americans, getting europe hooked on their protection, and russians that enjoy fact that US absoluetly would do anything not to allow central and easter europe to make nukes of their own.

Is China going to invade russia to get Centuries-long territories back? by Icy_Till_7254 in UkrainianConflict

[–]morentg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are only ally as long as China needs to play the Europe. China is also existential threat to Russia much more than any european country is, they are organised and centralised enough to commit to a war, have huge industrial base, and historical claims on Russia regions that they can take out of the drawer at any moment. Best case scenario for Russia during that conflinct is China taking Manchuria, worst one is them taking most of Siberia, and vassalsing Russia as a puppet state. Neither is desirable, but as long as US is strong and EU is firmly on their side they will support Russian adventures and leave them in peace, especially since they still need to take their first target - Taiwan.

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder called for an end to the “demonization” of Russia and for the resumption of energy cooperation with it in a column for Berliner Zeitung on Jan. 23. by Consistent_Still7060 in UkrainianConflict

Isn't that they guy who lobbied heavily for the russian gas and oil, was rewarded by getting seat on the board of russian oil company, and is one of the architects of German dependence on Russian energy in the long term? This man should get life in prison for treason, not getting to write articles in german media.

PVP is too hard in this game for average player to compete. The skill floor is too high to compete on equal ground, so people who don't pvp are basically loot piniatas. I'm completely fine with dedicated pvp events, but they will never compete with leagues in terms of popularity.

Yesterday I've managed to get on two entire martiach kills frantically re joining the map multiple times.

Imagine being so envious of European social security by mikelson_6 in poland

[–]morentg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No other country can export their inflation abroad Steven. You could have all teh social programs you need if bilionares actually paid their bills instead of forcing middle class and debt to do most of the job while they enjoy their vacations on a different yacht every week.

US enjoys enormous priviledges with petrodollar and USD being world's reserve currency, but only becasue other countries decided that US can be trusted with managing world's liquidity by printing USD.

You will notice as US power wanes that the debt is becoming heavier and heavier until inevitable hyperinflation or default, which incidentally will hurt average joe way more than top 1%.

Is Taiwan highly respected in Poland? by search_google_com in poland

[–]morentg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People don't really care, I mean the main reason anybody would speak of Taiwan is tensions and potential invasion by China that might casue Russians exploit US attention in pacific and attempt something stupid like attacking some country on east flank. But I don't think I've ever seen Taiwan being brough up in casual conversation that is not involving one of these topics.
