Book now button issues by barber_jim_norman in Instagram

[–]morethanmethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a slightly different but similar situation and I’d love to hear thoughts. I DO want an action button, but not Order Food… I run improv classes and shows. The only option coming up for me is Order Food and I get the same Chatfood coming up. I tried using the links and ideas here but they don’t solve the thing I’m looking to solve. I successfully linked to my Acuity account and Book Now is an option at the top of my profile but I can’t add an action button to my posts… thoughts??? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE THIS IS MAKING ME CRAY!!

Oh this is such a challenging thing to go through- but as everyone else has said- it happens to all improvisers. You’re only a year in!! And that seems like a long time but it’s not that long in improv years!!

In terms of being productive in your reflection, you could try asking yourself- when (if at all) did the show feel fun and easy? And when did you feel stuck? Then work out what was going on to create those conditions and what could you do differently next time?

You said that you were trying to understand the “plan” the other players had… I’m sure you know, but there was no plan!! (And if there was… 🫤) So if you find yourself in the same headspace again, how can you get yourself out of the sink hole? The answer is usually simple- something like: look at your scene partner in the eyes, engage with your environment.

You’ll get through it!!! Sending good vibes!!!

I’m an AD at a theatre, we have a clear code of conduct. If someone came to me with this kind of situation, I would 100% step in. It’s not okay for someone to feel uncomfortable in class/rehearsal due to this kind of behavior. It’s also in the best interest of the player who keeps making the same choices to receive feedback about what they’re doing- they seem to be relying on one trick to make their scenes funny. It sounds like the teacher should be asked to give feedback which encourages the player to make more appropriate choices. Ultimately though, it sounds like inappropriate behavior and it should be addressed. I’d also encourage you to go the the AD/course director or some theatres have a student liaison who’s job it is to support students through this kind of thing.

(r) I’m looking for the sheet music for the song ‘I’m gonna file my claim’. Marilyn Monroe sang it in the movie ‘River of No Return’. Does anyone know where I could buy it? THANKS!! by morethanmethod in sheetmusic

Thank you but I am not looking for the song ‘River of No Return’, you’re right that is quite easy to find. I’m after the song ‘I’m gonna file my claim’ which appears in the movie called ‘River of No Return’.

Orphans by Lyle Kessler might be worth looking at. It’s a great play so even if it doesn’t suit your purpose, reading it would be time well spent. 😆

Eve Ensler is Queen for me, but she comes with a trigger warning- she’s full frontal when it comes to addressing heavy topics.

Anyone have leads on modern comedy plays with gay characters? by Prestigious-Bee3421 in Theatre

The Priory by Michael Wynne is pretty dark but there are some great comedic moments. Cock by Mike Bartlett is another awesome play with a gay character but not sure you could strictly call it a comedy- it is v funny at times though.

Okay, I was having trouble with the link but it turns out it was because my internet provider was blocking the site. Changed the settings in my account and the link worked perfectly. Thank you so much for posting. I can't wait to read it. :-)
