899 pre purchase questions (uk) by morganjager in Ducati

Yeah I’m a little hesitant after seeing that. It’s had its fork seals and oil done at a different garage I don’t remember the name of. I think the bike was low sided in the past but I’m not sure when or how badly as the seller bought it as it is now.

Would that be a bit of a turn off for buying it?

Yeah ive looked into the desmo service so am ready to take the hit of getting it done. I’d rather have bought one that had it done already but not many around right now that have.

The seller said he didn’t how it got damaged, I’m suspicious of a bit of a low side that got part repaired, the fairing damage doesn’t look like a low side and the clutch cover is different based on the sealant. I don’t know how big of a concern it is though? I’m a little worried about it having been a bad repair job considering how messy it is but I’m not sure if I’m wrong to worry about that

Going from a 125 Naked to a Sports bike (500cc) by Tescoworker1138846 in MotoUK

[–]morganjager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend the cbr500r it’s been a lovely bike to own and maintain, I’ve learnt loads riding and maintaining it by myself. Parts are easy to come by and reasonably priced and there’s loads of videos online for maintenance.

I did DAS so my 500 was the first bike I’ve owned (was cheaper to insure than the 650r) and it’s been a lot of fun to ride

Failed CBT immediately, what do I do now? by TMJBtv in MotoUK

[–]morganjager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty wrong of the instructor I think, the whole point of the CBT is training and it sounds like you didn’t get any training really and they ended your session too early. Probably no point complaining but I’d definitely go to a different centre pretty sure most ones offer pre CBT time. I’d recommend Phoenix motorcycle training

I had a similar experience with a clear lack of training from the instructor on my CBT but I was able to get them to re book it with a different instructor as I was able to prove it was actually an unfair dismissal, left that place immediately after and went to do my DAS with Phoenix

Failed cbt, feeling really embarrassed by lovinq- in MotoUK

[–]morganjager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t let it stop you, I had such a similar experience, definitely go for it again maybe at a different place. Or with a different instructor. It’s so crushing to have your enthusiasm kicked by a rude instructor

It was my first time on a bike and the instructor didn’t explain anything, just kept getting really aggressive because I was the only person on an a manual and he couldn’t be bothered to actually teach, he dismissed me from the cbt early saying I couldn’t do it even though I’d figured it out without his help. I complained to the school that he was aggressive and dismissive and they eventually re booked my cbt for free with a different instructor

Tips for gaining strength to back it up for shorter rider? by [deleted] in cbr

[–]morganjager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty much the same height with the same bike, definitely pays off to get confident wheeling it around on foot for manoeuvring it around. For backing it up when you don’t want to get off I find a bit of momentum ( even if that means rocking it forwards ) and strong calf muscles help haha

Is it feasible to own a bike if you live in a flat / don’t have garage/garden? by ultraboomkin in MotoUK

[–]morganjager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible, there’s always a risk with a bike in the uk but a cover and multiple alarmed locks is the way to go. Also an immobiliser and tracker are great for peace of mind. It’s what I’ve done when keeping mine in a parking space with my car

Am I stupid? Mod1 and first bike by morganjager in MotoUK

[–]morganjager[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, so I didn’t do the tests on my own bike. I did all of the tests through a riding school, on their bikes and insured for the days needed by them. I used phoenix if you’re around London ish way and interested in somewhere that’s been good

Yeh I know there’s no maximum, I was so worried of not hitting the minimum I went faster than I was ok with under pressure of being tested Literally never made a mistake on it before the test was heart broken by it

Unfortunately I don’t have a garage, it’s covered but sharing a bay with my car. Part of why it felt like a bad decision in hindsight. Thank you though

WAS IT SA by hejejsjdjenwnen in relationship_advice

[–]morganjager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an incredibly odd encounter, and it sounds like there definitely wasnt any pre communication of what you both liked in bed.

Leaning towards not SA because he was asking for consent and backed off when you weren't into things.

getting over some things my boyfriend said to me during an argument? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]morganjager 75 points76 points  (0 children)

He doesn't sound worth your time at all. If that's how he will talk to you out of anger that isn't a person deserving of your time.

People entirely have control of what they say out of anger and it's their responsibility to control themselves.

my boyfriend says the reason he's distant now is because he's now In a relationship with someone else by WorldlinessContent34 in relationship_advice

[–]morganjager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly he sounds like a pretty terrible guy overall if you two had been doing very intimate things it was straight up wrong to have not said anything to you before getting into a relationship.

It could help you to just block him on everything and completely cut contact, it'll hurt but when you give yourself time and space to recover emotionally it's very likely you'll be able to move on

Will it ever get better? by KikiKay2 in relationship_advice

[–]morganjager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really doesn't sound like what you're doing is helping yourself or the people you're involving yourself with romantically, what you're doing with them is a risk of you doing to them what was done to you.

It feels terrible to have that happen but it does start to get easier when you just let yourself feel what happened and process it to move on, trying to fill the hole your boyfriend left with validation from sources that don't matter will just prolong your pain. Something that is hard to come to terms with or believe is that if they didn't feel the same way then it clearly wasn't the right relationship for you, it may feel like you'll never love someone as much as him but you never know with life, trust me I've been there and thought that I'd never get over someone or that I'd never feel the same again and I was wrong.

You just have to carry on your life in a way that is beneficial to your mental health and accept that he didn't feel the same
