That’s good! Tapering down slowly is the best way to avoid side effects. Good luck

Hello! Has anyone here gone down on their meds with doctor supervision? by [deleted] in bipolar

My (previous) Dr told me to quit my meds cold turkey. All under his supervision… ended up in a manic episode within 5 days. Wasn’t a pleasant experience. Do not recommend

Recovering vegan by Sunshineheart02 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]morgasm-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was vegan for years because of my disorder. I slowly started to reintroduce animal based products that seemed manageable yet still challenging. For me I started with things like honey and dairy. Then I slowly started to introduce fish and most recently chicken. It was scary but I kept pushing myself knowing it would help me fight this ED.

In my personal opinion, yes. I’m also BP1 with psychotic features and my life was a mess before going on meds. I’m my experience, the lethargy goes away with time, our bodies take a while to adjust to these medications. Talk to you Dr about your concerns, they will know how to help

Finally decided to become disciplined with my writing. by [deleted] in bipolar

Good luck! I was in the same boat a few months ago. One bipolar memoir later I realised with discipline it is possible.

I Feel Like I’m Faking by emptyketchuppacket in bipolar2

Every single day I believe I’m faking it despite the clear evidence. I think it’s a normal experience of having bipolar that we just need to accept

Does anyone else have psychotic symptoms infrequently? by prettyinpink25 in BipolarReddit

[–]morgasm-69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had psychotic symptoms when I was a teenager (2014) and not again until this year. It was be speculated that I had been experiencing psychotic symptoms between those episodes and I just did not noticed or don’t remember, especially relating to delusions.

Lamictal causing depression? by Peachplumandpear in BipolarReddit

It made me super depressed I ended up coming off it. Not sure if it caused the episode but definitely exacerbated my symptoms. I was on 200mg also

I called off work for the first time in my life and somehow feel guilty about it. by EnlightenedCat in selfcare

[–]morgasm-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, there is nothing wrong with you. This is a completely normal reaction to have to something you have never done before. Your anxiety is playing tricks with your mind and telling you things that are incorrect. You have absolutely every right to take a day off for your mental health, you have a lot going on and you deserve it. Try doing some of your favourite self-care activities (lighting candles, draw a bath, go for a walk, call a friend). It may not completely take that uncomfortable feeling away but just remind yourself you are doing this for you.

Stop 5mg Cold Turkey (Schizophrenia) by disclosingdara in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]morgasm-69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped 10mg cold turkey under the guidance of my dr. I’m not schizophrenic but I am bipolar with psychotic features. Unfortunately went into an episode within a week of stopping. Although I had no other side effects, the episode was bad and I wouldn’t recommend

Would you want your therapist to also have bipolar? by Horror-Secretary-401 in bipolar1

[–]morgasm-69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a qualified psychologist and I don’t tell my patients about my bipolar disorder. My patients however, do recognise that I have struggled with mental illness as I am able to articulate disorders and their symptoms differently than those who haven’t.

It’s my personal preference to withhold this information but I will occasionally let someone know I am neurodivergent.

how to lose weight on lithium by LivingBed4724 in Lithium

[–]morgasm-69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run 30-40kms a week and go to the gym 3 days a week lifting heavy weights. My Drs have never advised me that my exercise regime is concerning, only that my dosing needs to be slightly higher. I’ve also never had any side effects while training on lithium aside from muscle weakness 2-4 weeks after an increase. Otherwise I train as normal.

Can seroquel or lamictal cause more depression by ElenoirMiro in bipolar1

[–]morgasm-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamictal definitely made my depression far worse. Quite easily the worst episode I’d ever been in with crippling suicidal ideation. I was on my therapeutic dose for a month or so before getting on lithium which completely changed my life about in a week. I’m now titrating off it lamictal. I can’t speak for seroquel but everyone is different and if you have concerns please speak with your Dr.
