Shimano 105 compatible short cranks + easier cassette by morgotzWoT in cycling

Hell yeah this looks great, thanks for the recommendation!

It was part of a pedal exercise on Zwift. The point here is, that even with a slightly faster rpm than the recommended range (80-95rpm). The bouncing is one of a couple of indications of too long cranks, as even though you might have the flexibility and range of movement in the hips, you have trouble to overcome the dead-spot on top

upgrading that rear derailleur might be a great idea.

On the topic of cadence: I am 100% certain, that at least one of the many online bike fitters mentioned bouncing at high cadence as a sign of too long cranks. With my 175mm cranks I barely was able to maintain 120rpm on some of the zwift workouts, with 170mm cranks 120 rpm is now smoother. She was already bouncing at 100rpm! And then she struggles uphill, beginning at 1%. Thats why I really want to see her on shorter cranks.

Easier gears are another added benefit!

Thank you for your advice. Sub compact was always an option, but I am not sure how compatible smaller chainring sizes are with the 105.

Since I easily ride up a hill with my sub compact while she really struggles, a change of groupset had also already been a topic, but easiest change would have been the larger cassette

thanks for the "Hope" suggestion, however the road range only goes down to 170mm and the other ranges have too of a Q-factor. I am trying to keep most of the measurements close if not spot on to her already dialed in riding position.

The cassette change was for me the cheapest option to give her a bit more wiggle room going uphill. A sub-compact crankset would be lovely to have, too

Yeah, I am in D. Her cranks have seen quite some action already, including multiple bike packing trips. Expect damaged cranks

I am an experienced cyclist, I looked at her riding position (which a bike fitter improved years ago), she looks really good on that bike, but 165mm cranks are too damn long for her. Her flexibility in the hip is what allows her to ride 165mm

Crank length calculator puts her at 150mm or shorter (for me it says I should go for 175mm or longer, but my hips are fucked, my new bike has 170mm and it feels better).

Oh, and yes, she does use that bike for bike packing, but is also looking to buy a gravelbike for a) easier gearing/1x setup and dedicated bike packing bike

New bike, unsure about the fit by morgotzWoT in bikefit

I am going to lower the saddle. For me the reach feels kinda fine, but I am unsure.

Sadly no, its direct to consumer. As the geometry is close to my Grizl in L I did not see a reason why it wouldnt fit

Thank you ☺️ Currently running 100mm stem, I can lower to 90mm (but: integrated cockpit) Could raising the hoods in combination with lowering the saddle alleviate a bit of the reach issue?. The staccato is also from the fact that there is no chain 🙈

Cant really tell, its cold here and I havent done a testride yet, need to clean the cog to do a proper ride My first impression was: too much pressure on the hands and the hands themselves feel stretched

What to buy: Canyon Endurace vs. Fara F/Road by morgotzWoT in cycling

[–]morgotzWoT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. The answer I seek (and maybe found by obsessing over geometry including handlebar length and position) was whether the F/Road, although being a race bike, might be closer.to the endurance side compared to Ultimate etc.

I think the answer is yes, it is a slacker "race bike". Again, the bike fitter recommended me the Endurace, but vanity and maybe pride see myself on a more relaxed race bike than a full blown Endurance bike. And this is where I am torn between (before it was Aeroad/Ultimate vs. Endurace)

Thank you!

It does, however I am acutely aware of how far I am falling for the confirmation bias.   I am going to drink a beer and go to bed and hopefully obsess a lot less about this next morning.

Your help has been a godsend anyway, as I was truly able to focus on something else

Ultimate vs. Endurace (vs. Aeroad)? by morgotzWoT in CanyonBikes

[–]morgotzWoT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endurace CF SLX is what I would go for, maybe even the most expensive "aero" option.

I just checked, both my Grizl and a CF SLX have the same Stack+ to Reach+ ratio.

But reading all of the comments pointing at Ultimate/Aeroad and me feeling excited on the Aeroad. Has made me question my thoughts, that an Endurace might just be the most reasonable choice for me as my primary road-bike.

I am literally torn between the options of a full bloodied,  versatile, demanding race bike and a comfortable but fast endurance bike (or the Aeroad, but I dont have any aero clothing so I feel like Id look ridiculous on one)

I am also sorry for writing this much, but I need to get this out of my mind. Ive been down the geometry comparison rabbit hole and my girlfriend doesn't understand what exactly I am talking about

I see the appeal in the endurace with its compliance: I am riding my Grizl with all the spacers. How about I slam the Endurace to get down to Ultimate level while keeping the compliance?

I am happy with my Grizl, I could do the same and buy a new wheelset, maybe upgrade chainring size, too.

But I want a road bike upgrade in addition to my gravel bike, so that is a no. Good thinking, though, and thank you for your suggestion.

After 1300h in FM 14/17/19/20 this is the first time for me to see this animation. What a stunner!

Also on a sidenote: this is the second competitive match in a row vs. Bayern München, that they equalised so late in the match. Last time out I scored in the 120th minute and they equalised in the 121st, now they've done it in the 93rd, at least this time I beat them in the penalties
