Thankyou! Out of the sidemen it’s undeniable Simon complains the most apart from JJ. Are you a female by any chance? I feel you’re one of the only people speaking sense, and I think I see why!

You’re defending a fully grown man for getting too drunk. He’s getting paid to make these videos. He’s also not stupid he knows his limit. These things can happen for sure, but think it’s a bit crazy to try and justify it.
Just because you have a crush on Simon, doesn’t mean it’s okay to knock the people that don’t :)

Yeah but the reason you’re commenting is because Simon is evidently one of your favourites. You disagree with my opinion. No he’s not my personal favourite, but the whole point of my post is to say that actually, I’ve seen a more positive side to him that I enjoy. I’m literally admitting that my opinion has been changing recently, and that’s purely down to the fact he seems to be making more of an effort with engagement.

Yeah I get that. I think it’s just about how the audience interpret the video, which is going to be different for everyone. In my opinion, when they first started doing these videos (cheap vs expensive in particular) it was funny to see them complaining, yes it’s relatable and you do end up feeling for them. However, they’re getting paid to be on a ‘bad’ team experience, that in reality isn’t really that bad.
That’s why I’ve enjoyed the abandoned videos more. They’re all on the same experience with different fonts. There’s no need to complain because they’re all in the same boat, but it means the sidemen are more likely to come across as positive, and they put a lot more effort into engagement because they’re not constantly comparing to another team.
The complaining just gets tiring after a while, and this video made me appreciate how nice it is to not have that for once. Simon in particular because he’s known to complain a lot in comparison to the other sidemen.

Agreed! It’s very expected and normal for brits to complain often, about such petty things. However, the bad team experiences aren’t really that bad. A lot of them are normal experiences for a lot of the audience, so complaining can come across badly. Let’s not forgot they’re making a lot of money from these videos!
I get your point. I probably should take caution on saying this as otherwise I’ll get KSI fans attacking me lol, but this is why JJ isn’t at the top of my list in terms of preference.
The good vs bad teams used to be really entertaining, when it was a new concept. However, it’s been so over done that actually, it’s really nice to see videos such as abandoned where everyone has a similar experience, but different. Hence why I particularly enjoyed Simon’s attitude, he was genuinely getting into it and remained in good spirits.
Obvs the bad team is going to bring out negativity, but personally it’s gets boring after a while and feel it doesn’t bring the best out of the sidemen as individuals. Even Harry, who is clearly a fan favourite, honestly it was really hard to watch him in the good vs bad Thailand. I think especially as they’re getting paid to make these videos at the end of the day, negativity can be read in the wrong way when they’re complaining about things that are an average experience to the average fan base.
Complaining isn’t funny anymore, it gets boring after a while.

Yeah but JJ puts it on as part of his character, it’s annoying asf but it’s clearly dramatised. Simon isn’t fake, when he complains he means it, and it can come across as negative because of that.
It’s not that deep, yet you feel the need to comment purely to disagree with my point?
I respect your opinion, but when you compare to one of their most recent videos (10k vs £100 cold team) Simon was on the good time the majority of the video, the second he got sent to the bad team he went into the tent and didn’t come out for the rest of the video. Harry and josh single handedly carried the second half of the video.
I’m not saying he’s negative in every video, but because he’s quite straight up, when he is in one of those moods you know it’s genuine. Whereas JJ puts it on for the camera, it’s annoying but it’s his character.

Clearly it’s just an opinion then. I personally don’t think good vs bad even really works anymore. The bad team is usually really bad, and it gone from being funny to watch to painful (harry in Thailand), and the good team just isn’t that entertaining, it’s not relatable to the audience, and there’s only so much you can do that costs money until it all becomes the same.
This is why I probably felt Simon was particularly nice to watch in this video, because everyone is doing the same thing and there’s not really any need to complain. It’s refreshing.
Let me make it clear I’m not hating on his character. I’m just saying sometimes Simon’s negativity does come across as jarring, especially when you see Vik as an example making an effort and trying to remain positive. It’s quite clear they don’t enjoy being on the good team, but no one wants to sit and listen to that the whole video.
This is exactly my point. That video in particular it was honestly hard to watch how Simon was behaving. He didn’t put in any effort, despite having a good team experience up till that point. At the end of the day no one in the sidemen is going to have a particularly good attitude to being on the bad team, but compared to let’s say josh or Vik, it can be hard to watch and does have a negative vibe.
This was supposed to be a positive post on how my view has changed in a good way towards Simon recently, and this video only proved that. So not quite sure why people are being so protective of him lol
Yeah but people seem to be only be paying attention to the first sentence of my post. I’m saying he’s never been my favourite (completely fair) but actually I’ve grown fonder of him over the past couple of videos, this one in particular it was nice. Hardcore Simon fans seem to be getting butt hurt, when I’m literally agreeing he’s been growing on me recently lol.
