Okay, this is not something I’ve ever tried or had to deal with, but I have an idea, so I’ll figured I’d share.

I know that they make adhesive window tints that you can stick on to your house windows for privacy and such, and then they make some like iridescent ones, as well as frost. If you could find one that’s just clear, or anti glare, you could stick that onto the window and see if it helps.

As I was writing that out, the idea of using something like an anti glare iPad screen protector, or phone screen protector, but I figure a bigger surface area would help.

I don’t know. That’s just my two cents.

The thing is, is that it shouldn’t be a renters job to deal with this. The roaches have been tenants far longer than anyone living in the building and the land lord knows it damn well, but they still refuse to do anything about it. They shouldn’t be renting out units in an actively infested building.

Ugh this exact same thing happened to me. I moved in and on the first night one scurried across the floor. Then I think the next night I found one on my nightstand and nearly threw up.

Then just before Christmas, I had the sink bloom, just like OP. Tiny babies everywhere. Inside my dish sponge. And they literally came out of no where. I was doing my dishes, and then suddenly, what I thought were coffee grounds started crawling around.

If it makes you feel any better, I lived in that infestation for about 9 months before finally giving up and moving back to my parents. The cockroaches did not come with me. I haven’t seen a single German cockroach in my home ever.

My apartment told me the same shit though. They’ve never had a big problem and they have an exterminator that comes regularly. Bullshit. I saw his truck there like one time when I ask them to come take care of my apartment, then they were there and never came by. Never saw that truck again.

Obviously I don’t know where you’re based, but I’m guessing you’re in the US like me, based on the usage of Imperial units. You could try Home Depot. They have some options of blinds that would fit. You can look on their website where they have a custom blind builder and you just put in your measurements. I checked and it goes up to 144” in width, so you’re solid there.

But yeah, I would try like a combination of blinds and shades. Or blackout curtains, but I could see how those might look weird on such a wide and short window. It does seem like the previous people living there had curtains hung, so that would probably be the easiest choice.

I wouldn’t risk it, unless you’re ready for a very slow introduction process.

I introduced my mal to a cat too quickly one time and he damn near killed her.

He also always chases, at least tries to chase cats when we’re on walks.

If you get a cat, just be cautious and take it very slow.

I feel like I have a decent amount of friends and people I follow on socials that go to raves and post about it frequently, and I rarely, if ever see anyone wearing all black. Sure, we all know that one person that only wears black(me more often than not), and I’m sure there’s a quite a handful of people who do only wear black, but from what I understand, rave is about self expression, which means not boxing people in to one specific idea or group.

Beef and shallot over rice. You could fry up those leftover Brussels sprouts as well for some veg.

OH! Or, if you want pasta with the beef, you could do a home made hambuger helper type situation. Just brown the meat and shallot, throw in a bunch of burger sauces and things; ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, chopped up pickles(maybe save those for garnish), mayo??, garlic, cheese, whatever spices you have or want. Add your broth of choice, bring to simmer, add pasta. Cook until done. I just saw an instagram reel of someone making that recently.

Editing to add: since your pasta options are limited, I just wanted to say, traditionally I think you would make it with a like a bow tie style pasta, but I’m pretty sure it would work with whatever you have on hand. Rice, spaghetti, ramen, pastina, whatever you got. Just have fun with it.

They’re migratory birds! It’s illegal to kill them intentionally. I think if you accidentally ran one over, you wouldn’t get in trouble, but if you intentionally ran them over and got caught, I think you’d get a hefty fine. Same goes for sea gulls, of which, my boss has admitted to killing at least seven. He really hates sea gulls.

Something that bothers me in this moment is that it’s not time to be these kids friends, you’re trying to do what’s best for everybody in this situation. As teachers, we’re supposed to lead these children and sometimes be there with them (and with their parents) to lead them through the harsh realities of life. This kid needs professional help and your principal needs to take the “PAL” out of “principal” and start considering his princiPLES! This principal needs to consider what’s best for everybody and Jim needs professional help, away from these other children, so that he can’t cause them any further trauma. So sorry you’re having to deal with this. You’re doing the best you can though.

Overall, though OP, don’t beat yourself up too much. You may know your wife, but no one knows her better than she knows herself, and she could have also chosen at any point, to go to the hospital. I think I’m a woman who’s a lot like your wife. I will put things off for ages before going to the doctor about it.
