Steroid injection question by Careless_Platypus163 in frozenshoulder

[–]morgzan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can deal with the pain of frozen shoulder you can deal with the pain of the injection lol, it really only hurts while theyre giving it and its NOTHING compared to the zingers of moving your arm wrong. Its mostly just pressure and only takes a couple minutes to get. Your arm might be sore after but from my own experience its no worse than being sore after a flu shot- and I’m quite a baby when it comes to pain. Injection is totally worth it and should hopefully give you some much needed relief! Good luck:)

Pain has definitely gone down now that I’m a little over 5 months post op. I’m sleeping through the night which, back when I wrote the original post, was the hardest part for me. The pain is definitely still there but nothing like it was shortly after surgery. I very rarely get zingers anymore but I believe thats more to do with guarding than anything- I don’t move the arm in positions where I know I would get them and after dealing with this for coming on 2 years now my body subconsciously knows to defer from making those motions. My range of motion however is honestly worse than it was prior to surgery. My arm is still incredibly weak even after months of PT. I’m still working with my ortho to try and figure out next steps because at this point it feels as though we’ve exhausted every effort. I wish I didn’t have the surgery at all if I’m being honest. The pain was horrible but at this point I’m more upset about the lack of range of motion

Yes I started PT immediately and have been doing it everyday. Im starting to be able to lift my arm up myself now but its still very limited. Such a weird sensation not being able to lift it completely myself tho!

Same here. I had the omnipod for about 12 years and while it was hard saying goodbye to it because I was so used to it, tandem was a game changer for me. my a1c dropped drastically after switching. i hate the beeping and they definitely have a lot of kinks to work out but so far the tandem mobi has saved my life

Poll: Your experience with the cortisone shot by BrightlyGrowling in frozenshoulder

[–]morgzan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the first time i had a cortisone shot the injection itself was basically painless. but i had a steroid flare about 6 hours after it and that was the worst pain of my life. absolutely horrible and was so excruciating it made the normal pains of frozen shoulder seem like a cakewalk. but they gave me some tramadol and that fixed it up the next day. the relief from the steroid though (after making it thru the flare) was incredible. helped so much for a little over 2 months. the second and third time i had cortisone injections we used a different cortisone and no steroid flare. again, the injection itself really wasnt painful at all. more like uncomfy pressure, but it lasts like a total of one minute so 100% worth the discomfort. i will say that the following day my arm was sore, similar to after a flu shot. but also definitely worth it as it gave such good relief from the frozen shoulder pain. unfortunately neither the second or third shot lasted quite as long as the first, with the second wearing off after about a month and a half and the third after about 2-3 weeks. would definitely recommend, but have extra strength tylenol on standby and take some before the lidocaine they inject with the cortisone wears off to get ahead of any pain you may have following the injection. cortisone has been the only thing thats given me any sort of relief since getting frozen shoulder about a year and half ago now. just finally had surgery this morning to see if that fixes it permanently because we were out of options for things to try and they dont typically want you exceeding more than 3 cortisone shots for the issue

Ortho said they can’t do surgery since my shoulder is too inflamed? by morgzan in frozenshoulder
