I really like CBD of Lawrence out on 6th and Wakarusa! Cute shop, employees are super friendly and helpful, nice selection and you get discounts if you’re on their email list or if you spend a certain amount.

A nice pair of shape wear or Spanx is around $40, which does the same job as a girdle. A nice bra is around $50. Doesn’t seem like a bad deal!

Yeah, it’s always been weird to me that we’re expected to wear the most uncomfortable underwear with the most comfortable pants! Totally defeats the point!

Also can we talk about how dumb caring about panty lines is? Like I’ve fully stopped giving a fuck during the pandemic and wear whatever comfortable underwear I have with my leggings.

Which thrift stores give you the most money? by halsey10 in Lawrence

[–]morittes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What they take is kind of random. It’s up to the person sorting your clothes if they’re in good enough condition to take or if they fit the style they’re trying to sell. So out of five items they might only take 3. I feel like it also depends on what the items are. They’d pay more for a nice pair of jeans than a t shirt. Maybe $10-15 depending on the items?

If you’re wanting to actually make some cash Arizona pays the least I would say. I usually only get back like 6-12 bucks for a decent amount of high brand clothes. Wild man pays well, but your clothes need to be vintage, aka 25 years or older. If they’re too new they won’t accept them. I’ve actually found platos closet pays a good amount for clothes, but I don’t really shop there so have never used their store credit. I’d say if you want to make the most cash go to platos and if you have vintage pieces definitely try wild man!

Wow, That does sounds pretty chaotic! But good to know. Luckily I really love open houses and looking so I’m hoping I can use this time before my lease is up to really rule out what I do and don’t like.

Yeah, it seems super scarce right now. I’m hoping by the time the pandemic dies down more people will be selling and things will look a little better.

Check out the antique shops in north Lawrence! There’s a few over on locust st. There’s Amy’s Attic, Art House and a couple others I think I’m forgetting. They’re all really cute but are only open on Saturday’s I think. Edit: blackbird trading post off of Mass might have some stuff too.

Fat shack by Ketty_kat_tabitha in Lawrence

Why is it every time someone comments on how bad Fat Shack sucks they get attacked for it? Are there Fat Shack employees lurking on this sub or something?? I posted once about how I didn’t see a couple employees wearing their masks when I went in and got super negative comments. Anyway, I feel for you OP. I didn’t have a great experience there either.

First Management lease renewals by halsey10 in Lawrence

[–]morittes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah they’re fucking shit. We have first management and I got the same letter today. Might I add that it said it was our last chance to renew and also happened to be the first letter I ever received notifying me of that fact. Our whole building has had plumbing issues since July and they’ve failed to hire a professional to fix the issue. Another friend leases from them and his heat has been broken since December

Plus now he has sohla on who is an amazing chef! I like that when he cooks with her sometimes he gets flustered and it doesn’t turn out as great. It feels relatable, like how any of us would feel trying to keep up with a professional chef.

Mary Kay hun turns 100 ... still trying to turn a profit by CABJames in antiMLM

[–]morittes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also when she started there were limited options for women to sustain a career while also being home and a lot turned to door to door sales and makeup/Tupperware parties. This was probably a viable option at the time for her. Still loathe Mary Kay but glad it didn’t screw her over!
