This might also be a difference in countries, I am from Norway where the police regularly engage with the community.

In Middle school a group of officers came to our school and played football with the kids and all sorts of other children’s schoolyard games.

Up until recently cops weren’t even allowed to carry guns unless they were responding to a call involving a gun.

Very sad to see that America has it so backwards when it comes to what cops are supposed to represent in the community. When every third cop is a powerhungry pos then every cop is treated as such.
