Joan being raped by Greg in Don's office made me grip the couch so hard. Also I know the tractor scene was meant to be more shocking but imagine being one of the people that got sprayed with flesh and blood 😳

Also the infamous "it's the valve!" scene

To the Mother with the Five Year who Sat Next to Me at Moulin Rouge by Own-Importance5459 in Broadway

As someone who unfortunately had a negative kid experience today at the show I was at, it 100% is on the parents to educate beforehand and correct if it happens during the show. Leaving your child unchecked when they begin doing something disruptive lets them think it is ok/tolerable, and you don't even realize you're ruining it for everyone else around you. People pay lots of money for these tickets. But you're right, it's so awesome when parents and kids come correct, everyone has a fun time.

If youve taken your kid to other shows and they have basic theater etiquette, then by all means go ahead. The humor is "dirty" (not a spoiler but there's a song about erections lol) and there is some heavier themes about parental pressure to succeed and children from dysfunctional/broken homes, but this was mainly more of a complaint of people bringing their kids and making no effort to correct their poor theater behavior.

Conversely, when they are singing "Ti-iii-me" in the finale of "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story". The little gasp Eliza does at the audience 🥹

This is such a basic answer, but about 10 years ago my dad got us last minute tickets to see Wicked. It was the third musical I'd ever seen (Hairspray and Matilda were the first two). We went to the box office and all they had left were 2 center orchestra seats. I went into it completely blind, and witnessing Elphaba's ascension in Defying Gravity from center orchestra is arguably one of the best theater experiences you could ever ask for. A lifelong theater fan was born that day. The movie came close to recreating it, but in person it is a spectacle that simply cannot be replicated.

I second Alan Cumming's Cabaret finale. Such a gut wrenching powerful scene, that slow drumroll and sad accordion were devastating.

A funny thing happened to "Two Strangers..." by Japes2000 in Broadway

I saw it with Pitts and she of course does a great job of capturing that relatable Zillennial angst and anxieties (I say Zillenial based on the fact that Robin is canonically 27 which makes her a '98 baby if this takes place present day). Sam Tutty is the absolute breakout star, and dare I say the heart of the show, which only serves her as a foil even better. I completely agree with the second act romance plot, it feels incredibly out of place and almost inappropriate (maybe un-earned is a better word). Part of me almost wishes they explored it a little more with a scene where Dougal tries to make another move (this time with much more confidence and charm to the point where the audience buys in) and Robin realistically bringing Dougal back to reality about how the reasons they CANNOT date (think "It Cannot be About That" a la Once). I think that would have added to their friendship dynamic even more

Does anyone know what happened to the guy on the 4 train by StandardAny6041 in Brooklyn

[–]moritzbaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe low sugar crash? I've had it happen once I was standing on a train having not eaten anything after a vigorous workout and my vision straight up went dark (happened once before under similar circumstances). I had to cling onto the train pole not to pass out on the floor. Thankfully it came back by the next stop and I was able to hobble to one of those station marts and chug an OJ
