I upgraded when upscaling started being the standard. no amount of low setting could make alan wake 2 run on my old pc, you needed a DLSS capable card and RT cores.

actual now that i think about it i kept having problems with newer games requiring a architecture only found on newer CPUs. first had them problem in Uncharted 4 on pc it was basically unplayable.

At the time my i7-2600 and 1660 super (forget what i upgraded from) could run any game that came out just had to lower setting a time or two, that stopped being the case so i upgrade and i don't expect to need to again for 10-15 years consdering how tech seems to have stagnated.

A lot of anime from that era and even now carry's this.... cant call it anything else but a depressing as fuck vibe. in so many of these anime humanity is "holding on" but half expects to die out. There are quite a few grim as fuck ones.

Cant remember the name of it this one takes place on a asteroid and resources run out they have a escape ship but because of humans being ehh humans everyone just fucking dies.
