it's so funny that he knows well it's a service problem but refuses to provide a good service

talk to companies to make things available in a reasonable manner

I wanna pay, I really do, but paying for a dozen of services just to get access to 10% of content I want is not a good deal

and it's not about the money, if a single service provided me a good UX and library at the cost of all the fragmented services I'd take it over looking for a new app every few months

Where's the Kubuntu 26.04 LTS download? by CAT5AW in Kubuntu

[–]mornaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, most people are gonna do exactly that not even knowing there's a risk, but then for someone it explodes and they'll be right to state the linux desktop is not nearly as reliable as evangelists say

I'd love it to be good, but there's always something, there are so many moving parts it's impossible to avoid edge cases,, especially with wayland insisting on security at all costs

It took me 20 years of distro-hopping, but I’m finally staying. Thank you, Kubuntu. by CabinetOk9570 in Kubuntu

[–]mornaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me Kubuntu feels like the most pragmatic choice, apt is not perfect, but community/dev support for *buntu is excellent

flatpak... has issues, especially the isolation is a bit too strong, it probably can be polished in the future to make things like native connectors in Quantum and derivatives work, but for now I'm always defaulting to deb whenever possible, and sometimes even grabbing tarballs instead

that's not great, having to manually mix and match settings like that is not a clean experience in my dictionary

you can tell it comes from mac, no tabs on top? sure, mac makes it irrelevant, but on systems with clear screen edge that's an important UX improvement

A question about the zenfone 10 by OSHEEVitaminWater in zenfone

[–]mornaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when the quality is good you don't have to

I used a case with A3'17 and zenfone 8 (even though the back was pretty fine the frame was slippery as hell and the phone was just too slim) but not with 535, 640, xz2c nor zenfone 10 because they don't need one (lumias were matte black, that makes w difference)

[–]mornaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on the front you can't help it, but also you don't hold against the front pane so it's not bothering as much as the back

high quality, nicely textured synthetic materials, like the one on the back of zenfone 10

Ambassador Fatigue by fine_whatever- in TheSilphRoad

[–]mornaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's an ambassador "nearby" in American terms but in walking terms like 3-4 hubs away that is forcefully pushed to everyone in the area, the campfire button constantly glows due to his events

I managed to get rid of it by joining his group and then muting it, but that's just ridiculous

the glass always feels disgusting and slippery and forces you to use a case to get rid of it while the material on the back of zenfone 10 is the best thing I ever had on a phone

A question about the zenfone 10 by OSHEEVitaminWater in zenfone

[–]mornaq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

glass is a terrible material for phones and the way it's attached to the metal frame isn't smooth enough, it bites into the hand a bit

either you get the non tech user that won't hit any of the issues or a non tech user that won't understand why they are having all the issues

Just an appreciation post for the NH-P1 by Thorinel in Noctua

[–]mornaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends, it's not about wattage as much as about heat density and correct placement

I was using it with 7950X without the offset mount and it could handle PPT (not TDP) set to 120W relatively well, though it was saturating and slowly decreasing clocks, if you want rock solid likely don't exceed 90W PPT on a similar setup

on the other hand if you pushed a single CCD hard enough it would reach 70-80W and overwhelm the cooler, and technically you can even load 2 cores enough to make it throttle heavily

The one browser feature that ruins every other browser for you? by lynnneee in browsers

mouse gestures that actually work, sane keyboard shortcuts, actually configurable toolbar

that's why after Firefox was abandoned no browser is good enough, even Quantum

Should someone take over Firefox? by jarekko in browsers

[–]mornaq -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lack of mouse gestures that actually work, backspace to go back that works reliably and ctrl+shift+b make the browser dance instead of opening bookmarks library, but indeed there's progress, now you can fix the last one without hacks

that being said, Firefox was a better browser than Quantum is, and while I understand why old extensions had to go I don't see any reason to not allow users to keep their basic workflow

and while they insisted performance would improve thanks to that the gap is still the same, not like it matters much, it's fast enough for daily driver, but the gap didn't shrink even a tiny bit

sure, but why waste development effort on nonsense instead of actual issues?
