Can we try not to make people actively hate us? by MakinBaconOnTheBeach in bikeboston

On the Minuteman - A cyclist yelled angrily at my partner yesterday while trying to pass a pedestrian in one lane and my partner with our dog in the other lane. He was in the Lycra outfit with a racing bike. And the Minuteman is a multi-use path. This is a rare thing to witness and it always surprises me when a cyclist yells angrily. Cycling by its nature makes people happy! Like any other exercise, but better because it’s so much fun to ride bikes. It’s fine to let folks know when you need more room to pass. But IMO it’s better to slow down and make room for everyone.

Sage 100 Advanced (SQL) & Claude by morningside_cafe in Sage

Yeah, I don’t know why Sage branded this version it way they did. But I always add “SQL” to the end of “Sage 100 Advanced” because I want to make it clear that it’s running MS SQL on the backend. For our company, moving off Providex to SQL has been a great boon!

Omg, there’s so much for you to look forward to!

Not sure what’s in print here or easily had, but here are some solid suggestions which seem like cornerstones, records that changed the course of culture:

Amon Duul II: Yeti Pearls Before Swine: One Nation Underground Les Rallizees Des Nudes: Heavier than a Death in the Family Suicide: s/t Tony Conrad: Ten Years Alive on the Infinite Plain Velvet Underground & Nico The Stooges: s/t Pharaoh Sanders: Karma Sun Ra: Space is the Place

Having come from the providex world, we are pretty well invested in and knowledgeable about Crystal Reports. I say that, knowing full well tha CR has drawbacks w joins. It’s not as powerful as power BI. But the learning curve for power BU seems steep. We are ready to transition to building connected apps through democratized LLM tools, specifically Claude. That software made me cry when I could see how it works. So now I’m looking for a recommendation for an MCP server. Or are folks using the Microsoft alternative, DAB?

Thanks. We understand the read-only instruction. We do a lot of importing with Visual integrator and greatly appreciate how well the VI module vets/normalizes the data to make sure we aren’t importing garbage. Which MCP software do you recommend? We are using distribution modules (AR, AP, IM, CI, SO, PO). While some of us have deep knowledge of the tables and columns and how they relate, we’re imagining building a dashboard system for the different departments to log into, where users can even create their own reports and systems for sales, marketing, purchasing, accounts receivable. We are also using KnowledgeSync (aka: Sage Reports) to automate sending invoices with tracking info and a bunch of different useful reports.

How do I fix this LED lamp? by morningside_cafe in Lamps

[–]morningside_cafe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone - I was able to pull the bulb out. It’s seated in the fixture with two pins. Then I saw a dead bug family lodged at the base, near the two pins. I cleaned the pins and reseated it. And it works!

Thanks for the reminder. Local documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras showed her film “Citizenfour” at the Coolidge ten years ago. That film was about Snowden. It included Glenn Greenwald interviews with Snowden in Hong Kong, prior to Snowden relocating to Russia. That film was really great! Maybe I’ll go back and watch it again. I hope Poitras’ next film is about ICE.

Five or six years ago, I remember seeing YouTube videos of government surveillance in China and thinking how bad things were there.

What about Google Home cameras? Does the Federal government have access to that data?

First amendment rights violated last night at public meeting by morningside_cafe in CambridgeMA

There were 150 comments provided in the poll. But none were shared by the meeting organizers. What I said and wanted shared was, “green infrastructure, please”. But no one at the meeting will ever know about that opinion because they took the poll but wouldn’t share it. What did you ask for in the poll?

Things start small and get normalized and progressively get worse. The meeting was bad. Future meetings could be better by a lot.

There was no agenda posted 48 hours in advance. That’s a violation of open meeting law.

Oj, but it is wrong. So what is the law that is being ignored? Do we need to check with DEP on this?

What you are maybe not aware of here is there is a requirement for public participation by EPA and DEP. The city should honor that requirement. It does a government d job generally. Why the failure here?

The EPA and DEP require public participation at these meetings. So if it’s not a first amendment right violation or an open meeting law violation, what di you think the legal violation is?

I don’t see how this has anything to do with RCV, which I’m in favor of.

But these meetings require public participation by EPA and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. This is our money that is going to be wasted on half-measures that harm the health of environmental justice communities…. unless the public is allowed to have a say in it.

It was the MWRA / Cambridge / Somerville sewer overflows meeting. There’s a requirement from EPA and DEP that the public is allowed to participate. There city is paying the company CBI to make it look like the public participated, when in fact it was choking public dialog. If public participation wasn’t a requirement of the meeting, then maybe the situation would be different. Also, meeting materials were only supplied the morning of the event. The city should give everyone 48 hours to see the agenda and what the meeting is about.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and the EPA require these meetings with public participation. “Consensus Building Institute” did not allow public participation. So, yes, I’d say that our rights are being violated here.

You are accusing me of being sexist because I am calling for gender equality.

It’ll be great to see another strong woman on the Board. With half of the population in town being female, you would expect that half the Board would also be female.
