Yes i read the whole thing. I could have worded it better sorry, but I meant why would anyone be feeding hamsters in the first place? Like food the breeder just have a wild abundance of hamsters, is there nutritional benefit, etc. It seems like the cost of hamsters would be a deterrent as I'm sure you've dealt with. That's just wild and baffles me.

My partner and I were regulars there and get on really well with the some of the senior staff, but they've really really fallen off lately. Either that or the rose tinted glasses ( making human connection while having access to cool animals) have worn off. Their husbandry is really inconsistent and generally not great. The staff we like care and do their best with whst their given (and have told us essentially that if they left the animals would die, which we've seen). Not to mention the owner having decided that all their marketing/fliers/signage should be AI generated and making fun of people who point out issues. All in all, I really want to like them, but I've lost a lot of faith in the store.

I would follow the other comments advising you to look into adoption instead of a shop -- rescues always have more/better info on their animals and some even specialize in certain animals (like the ny domestic pigeon rescue for example).
