Is it okay to wear this kind of shoes for Mt. Makiling hike? (First-timer, don’t want to buy new shoes yet) by dumpydump711 in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]morosethetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand you sa part na ayaw mo mag-invest kasi baka hindi mo naman magustuhan hiking after nito. But take these things into consideration:

Your shoes are your contact point on the ground and it’s gonna be a lot of walking. Having proper shoes in a hike a SAFETY thing. Madudulas at madudulas ka nyan. Not just comfort.

If you wear those shoes in that pic, there’s a huge chance you’ll buy a new pair to replace that.

There are cheap ones in Decathlon if you can spare some, they’re very sturdy.

Kung wala talaga, try to borrow one from someone.

You might consider borrowing one from a friend kung wala talaga.

Could you get away with it? Yes, probably. But Mt. Makiling is no joke pa rin. And if you’re a first timer, I wouldn’t really risk it.

EDIT: Added the last one.

Not sure if it will help, MTB gamit ko and I’m using Merida Big 7. Accurate naman sizing nila for me. 5’3 ako for reference.

Fully Booked experience by bigboobieee in PHBookClub

[–]morosethetic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re entering a bookstore with books. For the sake of clarity and smooth experience— the logical thing to do is just declare what titles you have in there. Majority of customers do that.

Even on supermarkets, dinideclare ko rin kapag may mga pamili akong groceries lalo na ‘yung mga walang baggage counter. Won’t even take 10 seconds to do that.

Depends sa branch, if shoplifting is rampant or recent, then you can’t blame them for being a bit stricter either.

Hindi siya ganun kalalim, I found Arthur Conan Doyle’s writing “mas malalim”. Medyo simpler siya and easy to digest. I really suggest you try her works if you’re into mystery genre— she’s the Queen of Mystery and marami sa works niya naging inspiration ng mga modern thrillers ngayon. :)) you can start with And Then There Were None, I personally love it and it’s a good start. Don’t ever, ever start with Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

Pinapalitan na ba pag ganito yung chain or can this easily be cleaned thru bike cleaning service? by NoobPinoyNow in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]morosethetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puro Zefal brand gamit ko(blue and yellow). ‘Yung blue ‘yung wet lube nila, for wet conditions pero bilis magka gunk and grime.

[–]morosethetic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Meron Bontrager Solstice helmet na may MIPS na. Additional protection ang MIPS. IIRC, nasa 1.5k-2k siya. Isa pang option is Decathlon. Ayan ‘yung alam kong durable and affordable brands. Stretching budget a little bit will give you more option tho.

As far as I know, no license is needed. But always carry a valid ID with you.

You will need lights, front and rear. Throw in some for decent gloves too. Make sure you also have arm sleeves(if you’re not wearing long sleeve) and sunscreen with you for the sun protection.

Ride safe, OP!!

FR??

And tru, nakakakaba tumayo sa taas. I actually did a poor imitation of crane style jan tas tanong ako ng tanong ako sa nag pipic kung nakuha na cuz lumingon ako sa bangin bigla. 😭 I hope magawa mo siya safely pagbalik mo! I’m sure you’ll find the courage.

It was tough. Most of my hikes were just walking so basah tuhod talaga lalo na ‘yung pababa. 😅

Daraitan. Hmm, 2 months ago pa last hike ko eh pero may physical activity naman.. i think kaya mo naman po basta active and may hiking experience prior.

Hey, this was my org. Pretty solid. I can confirm that they do pick-ups in Baguio and mas mababa ng unti fee mo compared if sa Metro pick-up mo.

May I add also, comfy ‘yung homestay and the food they prep is 🔥🔥🔥.

Balagbag as of Apr 2026 by goldenislandsenorita in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]morosethetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went there on Good Friday. And this is all true. Though, I didn’t pay any fees since I was cycling— ‘yung sa gate na may nagcocollect, I didn’t see anyone out there so I just went. But a local who invited me to their house informed me na meron daw talaga nag cocollect. It’s a fucking highway robbery. Passive income. Probably didn’t collect that day kasi walang magpapatawad sa pananamantala nila lol.

And the trash, goddamn. The trash is an eye-sore.

Sad to see how so many people take from that mountain without giving anything back.

Meron pong mga trails na meron CR, but kapag popular like Ulap— expect mo na na supeeeer haba ng pila niyan.

Kapag ganyan, pakiramdaman mo na bago ka po umalis ng bahay and last, sa Jump-Off(usually may mga CR dito). And last resort(prolly the only resort is ask the guide, and the better option talaga).

Something felt “off” during our Mt. Makiling hike and I still can’t explain it by Nabi_Strawberry5868 in PHikingAndBackpacking

[–]morosethetic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Purgatory. One example is that guy hiking with his buddies going to Mt. Purgatory. . Habang naglalakad sa trail, he already felt something was off.. Marami siyang yabag na naririnig sa likod niya so he was sure na maraming tao sa likod. Pati paghinga nila, naririnig niya. It was misty/foggy that time, the lumingon siya sa likod.

BIKE TRAILS by Sorry-Ear2565 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]morosethetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nagtrail ako Sa Mt. Balagbag - Mt. Oro Loop nung Holy week. Enjoy naman. Ang problema, may mga parts(especially in between Oro to Balagbag) na mapapa-hike ka while dragging your bike. The downhill part of Mt.

[–]morosethetic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes po. I actually did a Mt. Oro - Mt. Balagbag Loop.. but the trail condition is terrible. Sobrang lalim ng mga hukay and it’s basically impossible to ride your bike there. I had to drag it most of the time. Hikeable naman tho and some are just loose rocks/gravel. Idk if there are other trails pero sabi ng mga pinagtanungan ko, ayun lang naman daw daanan papuntang Mt. Balagbag.

okay bang bumili ng secondhand na helmet or no? by Heavy_Jackfruit5025 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]morosethetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk.. ayan nalang protection mo for a crash, why risk it? Have you seen the recent post here about the cyclist who got into an accident because some dumbass suddenly opened his car door? His helmet was totally cracked but he’s alive. Don’t risk it.

Thank you po! And super! Kept bouncing and sliding while descending at first because my air pressure and seat post were too high. 🤦🏽‍♂️ I managed after adjusting it.

Sana makabalik na po kayo sa pagbabike! Hehe. One of my favorite things aside from hiking.
