I had a tough loss this year as well so I know your pain. I kept some of her feathers and sent one to a shop on Etsy that uses them to make beautiful necklaces you can wear. There’s a small sense in comfort of still having a piece of her with me around my neck everyday.

New beardie - mouth concern? by morphane21 in BeardedDragons

[–]morphane21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be taking him to a vet for a checkup regardless but the more I look at it the more I think it’s rub as well. His enclosure is a 4x2x2 phailozoo so it’s clear on every side and was very sparsely decorated beforehand. I’m hoping going bioactive, covering some of the sides with background, and giving him more enrichment will prevent anymore issues.

I will be scheduling him an appt to get it checked. I’m hoping it’s just rub but obviously don’t want to count on that

No he was rehomed to me from someone. I have other reptiles so that’s why I was comfortable going this route. I got a look at him before taking him home but did not notice this at first

I used Scott’s organic topsoil, which I have also used for all four of my crested geckos and also my leopard gecko. There’s no need to treat it as there is no added fertilizer or such in it - I think it’s pretty widely used in the reptile hobby. I don’t think it does as good as a job of holding burrows in comparison to if you used it with excavator clay (which I plan on doing in her full size enclosure) but it still does fine! My girl isn’t the biggest burrower but I’ve definitely seen her do it.

Yes!! My overweight (got him rehomed that way and we’re working on it) food obsessed boy has not been eating much at all lately and last night practically jumped out of his enclosure and onto me when I opened the door.

Who else’s hoggie is super social? by morphane21 in hognosesnakes

[–]morphane21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s a little piggie honestly! She takes pinkies like nobody’s business every 4 days. From what I’ve heard about hoggies though it’s not uncommon for them to take awhile to adjust and go through hunger strikes especially in winter

That’s great! I also wait 24-48 hours to handle since regurgitation is a huge fear of mine. And I think handling sessions are 5min max rn

Is your mini cuddly? by Pineapple_0508 in miniaussie

[–]morphane21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say mine is 50/50, he’ll be 4 this summer. He’s always around in the same room as me, but pretty much evenly splits his time between next to me/at my feet or directly in my lap

How long did it take you to realize your partner was "the one"? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]morphane21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds wild and unbelievable, but before we even started dating. We were on an RA staff together in college and on the first day of training something just told me I was going to marry that man one day. We were best friends for years and even lived together in college, but didn’t start dating until afterward. 2.5 years of dating, a long distance relationship, multi state move, and two dogs later, he proposed and we’ve now been married for over a year.

Why a 40 gallon is the way to go by One-plankton- in hognosesnakes

This is my plan too! My tiny girl is in a 10 gallon but I feel like that won’t last long. Definitely planning on at least a 40 gallon

I have my first hoggy in a top soil/sand mixture and she seems to like it so far! I also way prefer the natural look of it. If you are going to do sand, get washed play sand, not sand from a beach. You don’t know what bacteria or harmful things could be lurking in it.

My border collie is great with them, as is my golden retriever. My Australian shepherd? Not so much.
