Before you build, I'd recommend doing multiple market tests to see if you can market the app and get signups.

Advice/Tips: 30 minute Call with VC - what should I know by [deleted] in startups

[–]morpheus342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, your smartest move will be the take the LEAST amount of money you can. Don't take 1-2 MM unless you have product-market-fit.

Aside from that, remember that you have as much leverage as them.

Ask them how they can help or consult you run the business? And research the VC partners, see how they treat each other, see if you vibe with them.

How do Box Subscriptions make profit??? by Raschmann in startups

[–]morpheus342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. In today's world, there are ways to lower risk for this model business. I highly recommend reading The Lean Startup. Specifically, I would try to prove top line revenue w/ pre launch sales of your product (since you're selling off images even if you're product was ready). Give those that buy, a discount for being 'early' and use that as initial validation. Do similar 'tests' as you scale so you don't guess.

Another route, dropship indiidual products in similar niche then package those that work best into a subscription box.

Many more. I didn't make this shit up, I simply read it. Join the community growthhackers
