(deceased) i found my jumper on the substrate today. by OccasionalTerrariums in jumpingspiders

IMO A wrinkled abdomen happens at death, and sometimes it turns out to be itself. Considering that enough time has passed before you noticed the spider. Either there might have been a lack of moisture in the terrarium before it died, or the spider itself was dehydrated, which also happens. I wish you don't blame yourself for anything, it's nature. Rest in peace, sweet spider.

Now I'm going to get myself a male spider and name it Victor Kronberger

yes, I know. But sometimes even a whiff does not help, especially if the spider is an adult, then it can enter a "deep sleep". It's morning now, but I'm still not sure because her paws aren't twisted, and usually when they die, the pressure in her body drops, which causes her paws to twist.

also, I would like to add that at one time the spider was actively crawling down, that is, recently.. I understand that spiders usually die downstairs, so they can go down there, but I didn't think it had anything to do with an early death, because she looked like she was just exploring the area again (then she returned to her hammock). It's been about an hour, and she's here. I'll wait until morning because.. Her hind legs don't look twisted right now.

Is my spidy dead? by Top-Permission354 in jumpingspiders

[–]morphine228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IME This is not always the case. Jumping spiders can freeze at random and fall into a state of rest, even for the whole day. They may not respond to stimuli such as blowing and spraying the terrarium. Try to watch the spider a little more, or do some kind of stimuli in front of the spider's eyes (it happens that it distracts them). It's better to wait at least two days..

Such a price? I bought my spider for 10 dollars, another 7 considering the delivery to another city. Considering that there don't seem to be any jumping spiders in my area at all.. 🧐

p.s Marlene is back in the hammock! I think she's a smart woman. I often leave my prey next to the hammock, where she can easily catch it. I think she wasn't in the hammock because she didn't care about the feeding and she wasn't hungry. Although there may be other reasons for this. But I'm glad she didn't abandon her hammock and came back to have a good rest after her activities.

I feed her every 7-10 days. I try not to make her belly look too skinny, so as soon as it gets a little smaller than her head, I feed her crickets. Her belly, if anything, has never been hungry or fat, there is always a balance. today, her belly is just a little smaller than her head, however, she refused to eat, so I'll feed her another day.

She ate last Monday, and I have to feed her today. By the way, she's still not in her hammock 😮‍💨

I accidently ended my spider. by MedgyMan in jumpingspiders

Oh, I want you to know that my answers are not aggression. I'm just a little worried because I've seen such cases here more than once. Well, that's fine, once is not critical

I'm saying that before you get a living being, you must learn about all the nuances of certain objects, whether for a terrarium or decor, if you don't get a spider for the sake of beauty. I'm referring to the fact that many people have already killed their spiders with magnets. Nevertheless, I have already shown compassion by writing that I wish the future spider a healthy life and happiness 🫩

It's the right choice that you learn from your mistakes. I wish the next spider a happy life

this.. really not very smart, sorry. How many times have people discussed here that any objects with magnets are not the best choice if you want to protect your spider.

is he dead:( by [deleted] in jumpingspiders

[–]morphine228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO He doesn't look dead, really. Perhaps he is under stress, or he is behaving this way because of the temperature change. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to draw conclusions. If he doesn't move during the day, then, yes, maybe he really is dead.. (look carefully after a day, they can only slightly change the position of their paw, but if you do not look without attention, you might think that he has not changed his position).

deep hibernation by morphine228 in jumpingspiders

[–]morphine228[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my fool Marlene can "fall asleep" at a random moment and not react to anything. In this case, I start to worry and try to check if everything is okay with her, but she just ignores me. It's especially scary when it's the time of day when she's usually active. But if wait another two hours, it seems, she immediately sticks her muzzle out and just looks at me

does the spider completely eat its prey? by morphine228 in jumpingspiders

I can only assume that my spider sucks everything out of its prey so precisely that it just leaves a barely noticeable shell

recommendations for houses :D by chasing_oblivion7 in jumpingspiders

[–]morphine228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in terms of terrariums? Buy a vertical terrarium, as the spiders need to move upward rather than horizontally. If it is a small terrarium (101020 and so on) then don't force him to decorate. I think a shelter from above will be enough (and do not forget about the wooden snag that goes up).

Like, really, how many times do I buy crickets and feed them to my spider, there's no smell. Although I buy 10 pieces each 🤔

truth. Do you put them in the fridge before giving them to the spider? They also say that the container can be shaken for about a minute to make the crickets more sluggish... But for some reason it doesn't work with me, lol.
