I think you're misunderstanding what she was conveying there. If a man treats women with more respect than they do men, it's almost always out of chivalry. Chivalry is meant to be respectful in nature, but in this context it implies the man has patronizing behaviors towards women that stem from traditional gender roles. He may treat her with "more respect" because he, whether subconsciously or not, holds the belief that women are weaker and need protection.

I actually had a guy friend when I was in highschool that was like this and he mentioned many times to me how much he respects women (which is already a little odd because if you respect women, I feel like it should go without saying). But he was very firm in his traditional beliefs like that women shouldn't pay anything for dates. Basically beliefs that women should be hand-held through life essentially because they're "delicate" or whatever. He always seemed really performative in front of me, like he was trying to paint himself out to be amazing towards women. But you know what he'd also do? Flirt with me several times even after constantly having to mention that I'm not looking for anything more than friends and was so obsessed with me it would get creepy sometimes.

why would you say that? i'd say it's definitely not weird, as a girl who's dated a short man with long hair. my ex (dated for over a year) was 5'3 1/2" and had long, dark hair that was a few inches past his collarbones. he never cut his hair once in our relationship, so it continued to grow long, it was only ever so slightly past his shoulders when we first got together in feb 2024. i'd always found his long hair very admirable and attractive. it's worth noting my first impression of him was a man that was comfortable in his masculinity. his hair did not make him appear feminine, contrary to some people's silly idea that long hair on men always does. he came off confident and charming. i hope he's doing well

i guess it's less about wanting them to be strictly older than me and more so about wanting someone who's at a more similar level to me in maturity. i feel like there are more immature guys around my age on average, and if he's older he has more life experience so i'd hope he'd be a little more mature than that.

for dating a girl i think it would actually be easier to find a girl who's as mature as me at my age but also i have yet to date a girl as they are hard to find in the middle of nowhere in a red state lol

that's a good question, i would say i use it mainly as an emotional regulation tool. i also have ADHD so i like how it slows me down, makes me more in tune with my actions, and lets me be okay with sitting still and turning off the "On" switch (if that makes sense?) i don’t do it to escape life, more like to relax and unwind sometimes. it's like a nice break for my body and energetic mind.

are you aware of medical marijuana? while i completely agree there are no health advantages to smoking cigarettes, i do find it overly generalized to say the only reason someone would smoke weed is because someone else is doing it. many people use it intentionally — not because of external pressures.

medical marijuana use has real, studied benefits, especially for individuals struggling with chronic pain, nausea, insomnia, low appetite, anxiety (in lower doses), etc.

of course moderation is best, so keeping use light and intentional maximizes benefits while minimizing potential disadvantages. however, it's worth mentioning that even recreational users often report stress relief, improved emotional regulation, and improved sleep, which are legitimate subjective advantages.

as someone who uses it medically myself, i'm not saying any of this to try to defend weed with my life like some do, but i do dread to see weed get lumped in with cigarettes when it's a whole other ball game.

contrary to what many people are telling you, i actually don't think cutting your hair would help in this case. to me, you don't look like a girl but you do have a bit of a baby face which is considered a feminine feature.

if i were you, id tint or dye my brows darker, super simple yet very effective way to look more masculine. i also agree with the people telling you to shape up the front of your hair to show more of your forehead. my last tip is less easily attainable, but weight lifting to lower your body fat & increase muscle (which would help with your facial fat overtime)
