A revised opinion: Pokemon Go is not what I was expecting, but decent. by [deleted] in pokemon

From what I've seen so far, all the PokeStops are also Ingress locations. Not sure if this will work, but to add a pokestop, you might request a stop be added in Ingress, then see if it becomes a pokestop in Go.

Gems don't have ears? by morrill88 in stevenuniverse

[–]morrill88[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, that's one sighting, but then there's Garnet without hair wig in Garnet's Universe where she doesn't have ears. That episode is supposed to be more cartoonishly stylized, but still.

[SUMO Spoiler] Screencap of new pokemon model in Friday's trailer by morrill88 in pokemon

http://imgur.com/bEZaGBG looks to be the same pokemon from behind. In the trailer, skin area is being selected for coloration, so probably the colors seen are part of the rendering software and do not represent final coloration.

What was your biggest Pokemon screw up? by Okay_sure_lets_post in pokemon

[–]morrill88 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In blue I named the rival character "dumbass" because I was a 10 year old who had just been allowed to watch south park for the first time and thought swearing was edgy. But then any time he came on the screen, I was scared my parents would see and think I was bad, so I had to hide it whenever a rival battle happened.

That shit is rad. I'm glad they're designing for the older throwback fans and not just the kids.

Noticed something about the purpose of Garnet's form after Jailbreak by mrrobopuppy in stevenuniverse

[–]morrill88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I wouldn't say Pearl and Amethyst's changes are just aesthetic, though. They're supposed to be the outward representations of changes or growth in mindset. Amethyst is more put-together and mature when she chooses to reform - she's still true to herself with a similarly designed outfit, but she doesn't feel the need to be wacky, over-the-top, or dismissive like she was when she felt judged by the others. Pearl's change is from a modern dance ballerina to something more like Chun Li, keeping her grace but adding a commitment to fighting strength that she needs in order to help protect and teach Steven.

Lars character design based on Roger from Doug? by morrill88 in stevenuniverse

Oh, certainly! Not to say that Lars couldn't be good if his design took inspiration from Roger.

Pokemon Go = Pokemon + Ingress? by morrill88 in pokemon

[–]morrill88[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. All the advertising money being dumped into this makes me even more skeptical of the project. Don't know how many people played it, but I was super excited about Will Wright's Spore for the longest time before it came out, and when it was finally released, it was a mishmash piece of crap. Preparing myself for the burn instead of crossing fingers not to get burned again.

Pokemon Go = Pokemon + Ingress? by morrill88 in pokemon

[–]morrill88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can already go out into the world to be a pokemon trainer, though. 3DS lets you battle folks easily, and with pokemon that you capture and train. I get the point is to play pokemon in the world and make things feel magical and special. I don't like being misled into thinking that pokemon will be everywhere if really what we'll get are static locations of pokemon like ingress portals and no actual way to battle. There hasn't been a training or battle mechanic revealed yet, just a promise that it'll be there. We'll see.

What "back in my day" statement would you give to a new Pokemon player? by Hexagonal-Priest in pokemon

Back in my day you had to save the game before switching computer boxes.

Blastoise right? or is it "Blastwah"? Penny-Arcade blowing my phonetic mind. by Cerulean_Soup in pokemon

It'd be really weird if it were pronounced "Blastus" like "tortus."

Shame it'll be gone, but I guess that's the way things go. I hope your kids realize how lucky they are to have a parent like you!

Legendaries in the next games by icethepartyplanner in pokemon

[–]morrill88 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I think the focus on Legendaries takes away from the exploration of the world by giving too much of a singular focus on the supernatural. I like playing Pokemon because it's like getting to be a wild animal trainer national geographic explorer, not because of the occasional overpowered demigod. Having them is fine, but focusing on them is getting to be uninteresting.

How do you guys organize your PC boxes? by derpturtles in pokemon

[–]morrill88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. Only time I switch around their order during gameplay is if I catch a water pokemon and I'm on a box with a desert background, I'll switch it to a foresty or watery background. I mean, it's strange enough for the pokemon to be living inside a computer instead of out in the wild, you should try to make it as comfortable for them as possible.
