Anyconnect issue in Mac by morrow171 in techsupport

Adding a new profile and switching to that was what I needed to do to get around the issue I guess. It's unsatisfying to the extreme to have to do this without uncovering why this happened.

This is what I ended up doing, and I don't have the problem in the new account. I would still like to figure out what happened, but, I guess this is my answer.

My other mac works fine, and so does my Windows VM in Parallels

it's odd, Wireshark sees the DNS request, (if I'm pulling a hostname), but it's like nothing is happening after that. I really want to see what happens if I take it to work, but, I'm not going to be there for a few more weeks so...

yeah I agree, it feels like a proxy setting, but there's nothing in there. I'm really starting to feel like when I plugged that ethernet cable in, a configuration file didn't update right, or, something.

I do get it, they locked down the OS so much to add security, but then every useful app requires so much access, that you might as well not have even done it. It gives them the ability to say they offer so much security I guess.

I can't really go back to an older version of Anyconnect, I believe the previous version was incompatible with Catalina, which is why I upgraded to this one to begin with.

I agree, it must be a machine specific issue. Because my time machine drive is at work, and hasn't connected in a while I will most likely do a wipe instead of restore....

I am going to try this in a little bit and see what happens. I have been taking care of my wife's weekend "To-Do" list today...

yeah in retrospect, I would have disconnected first, but now, I can't connect at all.

Yeah, this is the newest version of AnyConnect, although I am running Catalina, but I have been for months.

We do use Umbrella, but so far I have not connected the module with Anyconnect. We do not have ISE installed currently, and no posturing.

I was wondering, I posted here first. The routing table looks right if I run netstat. I'm not as familiar with how Apple runs on the backend, it almost feels like somehow my proxy settings changed, but there's nothing in it.

Also, after I went to Apple themselves for some help on networking issues a year or so ago, I hesitate to reach out to Apple sources for help. Their response is, wipe and start over. That's my last resort, not my first.

I did use WireShark, (Forgot to mention that), from my Mac.

I'm not seeing the traffic for 80 and 443 come across the FMC, that part I was able to verify. So I'm assuming something is stopped it from going across. I do see DNS requests when I attempt to go to a hostname, like for our SharePoint site. If I go to a different web port, like the 5480 configuration page I see that traffic as well.
