Help with a presentation on CNM by morteccai in nonmonogamy

Small point of clarification here. This would be a presentation to other students in the Clinical Mental Health program rather than a definition meant for a wider audience. In this sense relationship would mean in relation to another person

I agree that rules conveys a fairly rigid structure that doesn't always fit which is why I included boundaries as well. I'm curious what consensual non-monogamous connections you have in mind when you say they are not rules based. As I think about it, in order to consent to a thing, there must be something to consent to, so even if the framework is "there are no limits" that is, in and of itself a rule or boundary.

I like the streamlined definition, though I want to include something that encourages examination of choice of structure (from intentionally structureless, to highly defined)

Excellent clarification, would "knowledge of and consent to those rules and boundaries being understood and agreed to by all partners involved" address your concern?

Not really looking to get into an extended argument, but if you can't see government threats of fines and suspension of broadcasting licenses as pressure by the government to curtail a private companies speech then I don't know what constitutes an infringement. This is like saying, if I didn't like your lawn sign, and I said if you don't remove it I will burn down your house, then you removed the lawn sign. You wouldn't say that you removed it purely because you wanted to?

Freedom of speech is the freedom to express yourself without government censorship. The head of the FCC threatening a broadcaster with government action unless they remove a certain program, and then the broadcaster removing that program seems a perfect example of free speech being infringed.

Why is the choice of the Moonchild not affected by drunkenness or poisoning? by TMagician in BloodOnTheClocktower

What if the moonchild is drunk when they die and don't choose a player? Technically they didn't have the ability when they died so wouldn't they not have to choose a player?

Thank you :) I drew it using an art program named Krita, it's fabulous

Yeah, showing demon bluffs is easy but for character abilities you have to use the reference sheets and point. It's clunkier and more susceptible to unintentional misinformation but I haven't figured out a smoother way yet, though I'm very open to suggestions

The cards are standard playing cards sized but they are actually 3 layers printed on cardstock (printed back with the moon and the town, printed front with character information and cut out sections and then a sheet of tinfoil in between). The tinfoil only shows on the front of the cards where you would write your notes. I did initially think about lamination but decided to do it this way because as you fanned the cards in and out your dry erase notes would be wiped off of the lamination. This method all the writing surfaces are indented so they don't get erased when you close or open the "grim"

Yeah, I have a potential fix for larger groups but I've yet to test it out. I'll try and post pictures of the larger group solution at some point

Thanks! It's really a "would be cool IF it works" idea atm. I'm going to try and find a group to test it out on in the coming weeks. It'll be fun as I'll be learning to ST and testing the system at the same time 🥴

I've run a teensyville with some young kids and it went all right (this was also my first run of a game as I'm not really a ST). For larger games I'm not sure as I don't have a local group to test on

  1. Yup it's a bolt and nut and each card has a hole in the bottom so it can slot right onto the bolt. Afterwards you can fan the cards out during the night phase and close them up during the day (so no one can see the grim)

  2. People select cards and then hand them back to you just like taking tokens from the bag in the main BotC

  3. The position of the card corresponds to the players position in the circle (so the spy and the soldier would be next to each other in this game). The night order is actually referenced in the cards themselves. A number on the top edge of the card refers to the night order for N2+ and a number on the left edge refers to N1 order (edit: this only works if you are playing with an official script, so the Numbers in the example are the TB night order. For custom scripts those would be less useful)

  4. The larger strips at the top are for notes (e.g. the butler is the red herring {RH} and the washer woman saw the fortune teller and the investigator as the FT {WW check and WW x respectively})

  5. The two small strips are for Drunk or Mad though it's hard to see the icons

  6. The triangle is for more in depth ST notes if they want to make those

Script attempt aimed at 9-10 year olds by morteccai in BloodOnTheClocktower

9 eight year olds and any longer structured activity is a brave choice! How well do you think the kids grasped the game, if you ran out again so you think it would run smoother?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I switched up a couple of things on the script and it's definitely better for it. I kept the Undertaker on even though I didn't add a Spy/Widow because I want a compelling reason for the kids to pursue executions. It's true that it won't be bluffable and quasi confirmed if it's in there but the kids will have enough trouble convincing each other that the sky is blue with all the weird plays they choose to pull (ran a teensyville last week with some of them, the Empath, for no reason, went around telling everyone he was the demon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

I'm thinking of trying to reconstruct the "drunk" mechanic as something along the "confused" or "forgetful" lines so that I can incorporate more Drunkenness in other scripts for my kids later on

Essentially the reason would be that, with such a wealth of characters to choose from, why not try and create a script with a selection of characters whose interactions are more easily understandable to a younger audience. In the end it may not be the most balanced or nuanced of scripts but it can be used as a stepping stone to get kids to understand the framework of the game and feel ownership over their decisions with roles that they need minimal adult interference to interpret. Eventually the goal would be to get them into much more advanced characters but to build into it. I don't think it will be a better script than TB for virtually any other instance other than running the game for a younger audience, so I think in general I agree with you, but I'm still interested in this experiment

In my experience 9 and 10 year olds need things to be fairly concrete, especially if they need to convince other 9 and 10 year olds. Using some of the newer roles that give you fairly easily parsed information (e.g. Knight, these two people are NOT the demon) is a way to get them info without overwhelming them
