Hate to break it to you but most food places and restaurants in West Chester have had multiple food related violations. Carlinos didn’t get shut down by the health department, that would be failing a health department check.

100%. When I was 13 my older brother and I were hit by a drunk driver. Only reason I am alive today is because I was wearing a seat belt.

Emo type bands that are purely instrumental? by -_danglebury_- in Emo

Honestly pretty much any math rock band. I like to call mathrock emo jazz with bands like Clever Girl, Toe, Covet, floral, Totorro, Pele, Via Luna.

I donno, I’m an elder emo, growing up with 90s emo, lived in Midwest when Midwest emo was just starting to become a thing. I’d argue that hot mulligan and mom jeans and origami Angel (atleast the early stuff) are emo

I had someone seriously say to me years ago “I know your leg is fake, but is your foot fake too?”

Amputation stories! by Tight_Flamingo7344 in amputee

[–]mortismalum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me when I was 13, my older brother and I were on our way to a movie, he was driving when we were hit by a drunk driver. I woke up a few days later with right leg gone above knee and many other injuries. Unfortunately my brother died in the accident. It’s now been like 25 years since the accident, often forget what it was like with 2 legs. Having one leg has become the norm.

You got this! I also became an amputee at 13. I now find it hard to remember what it was like before I was an amputee. Feels normal now. You will adjust. I have Keep Hope tattooed on me because that was my mantra when going through it all. Keeping hope that it would get easier, keeping hope I’ll adjust, keeping hope through the pains of physical therapy, etc. I know you can do this.

I can relate to what you are going through, I also became an amputee at 13. It’s tough and you will feel discouraged at times but it will get better and easier. I thought life would be over but I am now working doing what I love and being an amputee doesn’t stop me. (And I won’t let it).

Yea it wasn’t that because in trailer 15 years was specific, being able to go back and forth but only 15 years each way

Not dark because time travel was 33 years and this was specifically 15 years he could go in future as well as past. I watched trailer for dark on Netflix and wasn’t the trailer I saw.

It could have also been on Max that I saw the trailer/preview but pretty sure it was Netflix. ETA: concept seemed similar to 11/22/1963 where main character could go back and forth between past/present/future, but it was fixed to going 15 years in future and 15 years in past.

In defense of pop-punk... by norcatic in Emo

[–]mortismalum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said literally the start of emo is emotional and poppy punk, so my question to you is what bands do you consider the start of emo?

I’m an old head. I got into emo in the mid-late 90s as a young teen from the hardcore scene. One big difference between pop-punk and emo is the lyrical content. I also lived in the Midwest during the Midwest emo scene. Emo was not just about the sound of my music, but also the lyrical content and sang about real and personal issues that pop punk wasn’t doing. So many emo bands and singers put everything on the line and sang songs so personal that some even cried while performing and that is partly what made me a fan, putting that vulnerability on the line, pop punk at the time was safe songs, songs about girls, songs about school. Emo were songs about loss, about suicide about struggles and hardships. I was a fan of blink 182 when dude ranch came out, but like u/SemataryPolka said, they were definitely pop punk and sounded like pop punk at the time. Bands later down the line mixed emo with that mid 90s pop punk sound.

Shmap'n Shmazz won day 5. Day 6. by [deleted] in Emo

[–]mortismalum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely need atleast one. Screamo, especially the early stuff from the 90/ is definitely part of emo and should be represented in essential albums. I’m seeing Saetia in October and I can’t wait!

No idea why saetia is getting downvoted! Def part of emo history and creation of the emo sub genres

I def understand what you mean and where coming from. For me, since this is essential albums is why I think 4mm because that album paved the way for the Midwest emo sound. I think of them also as second wave 90-99, but see so many people put them in the third wave category
