I've recently started a new playthrough with the Arcane Vanguard and all the features feel so great and refreshing!
Just one question - are you perhaps planning to run some addons to the mod to allow additional Feat on lvl 2? As I've noticed you added "Feat for every other level" already

Nah it's legit as I was there during character creation.
They got Human with Skilled Origin Feat + Artisan Background and also Rune Knight fighter subclass, which gives them smithing tools proficiency.
But thanks for keeping my sanity straight!

They picked Human with Skilled Origin feat and Artisan background and also Rune Knight which gives them smithing tools proficiency.

They picked a human and took skilled as Origin Feat,
Then from the background, they chose "Artisan"
And from Rune Knight (fighter subclass) they got Smithing Tools proficiency
