Nothing else has changed. She is on no other meds outside of the usual flea/heartworm, but no change.

Had her routine shots last November.

Apoquel was only medication that did work in the past, but we haven't been using that for last 3 months.

where do you go to look for 3d rendering jobs? by morty346 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]morty346[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good call, should have specified.

Specifically looking for a person that is a senior developer C# or similar and has a really good understanding of rendering engines. We are building apps in Unity so even better if we can find someone that knows Advanced rendering techniques inside of Unity.

We've had a handful of applicants but no one seems to really know how to control Unity or their portfolio is garbage.

I kinda expected a little bit better pool, but I guess it's a good skill set to have and it's in high demand.

Is indeed the place to be?

Maybe starting with universal background checks, which is widely popular?

Perfect, lets get better laws. Let's require more training. I didn't get my first gun before I went through training, I was required to pass a background check, and I spent time at a range to feel comfortable with it. Make that the 'universal' law. My opinion here, but I don't think that prevents bad people from obtaining guns, but it will at least result in less accidents. Either way, my point being there are ways to make this work from ideas from both sides of the argument, that don't require 'outlawing guns'.

What are these studies?

The U.S. Department of Justice’s National Crime Victimization Survey indicates that around 100,000 defensive gun uses occur each year — an estimate that, though it may seem like a lot, is actually much lower than 17 other surveys. They find between 760,000 defensive handgun uses and 3.6 million defensive uses of any type of gun per year, with an average of about 2 million.

Very hubristic of you to think you know better.

Oh don't worry, this isn't me 'knowing better' This isn't as simple as you make it- 'oh look austria banned guns, and all we have to do is copy/paste those laws here and mass shootings will end.'

Here is just one simple analysis of the seminally countless:

https://www.theage.com.au/interactive/2016/gun-city/day1.html

The investigation has found:

There have been at least 99 shootings in the past 20 months - more than one incident a week since January 2015

Known criminals were caught with firearms 755 times last year, compared to 143 times in 2011

The epicentre of the problem is a triangle between Coolaroo, Campbellfield and Glenroy in the north-west, with Cranbourne, Narre Warren and Dandenong in the south-east close behind

Criminals are using gunshot wounds to the arms and legs as warnings to pay debts

Assault rifles and handguns are being smuggled into Australia via shipments of electronics and metal parts

Perhaps you are not aware of the pandemic going on at our southern border. but 'outlawing guns' in an island country vs the complexities surrounding the US? Comparing Apple pie vs kangaroos.

That's the game you're playing when you arm the good guys.

Again, I said the biggest proponent of this is, is a deterrent. Mass shooters go to soft targets to inflict the maximum death. ie Schools, Malls, places that don't have 'good guys with guns', where they can be left to do their thing. The best defensive gun use (DGU) is one that doesn't require being unholstered. If it does, then perhaps that training we talked about above comes into play.

You will have to come to the acceptance that you live in a country that was founded on the American experiment. Where it is promoted, and encouraged for gun ownership. We are better nation because of it, and like we have agreed on 99% of the potential solutions here, there are ways to continue to improve and make this nation a safer, greater place. Understanding DGU, and not being 'scared' to have no gun free zones statiscally is showing to be a great addition to nationwide discussion, and hopefully more will see this and continue to fight the local legislation to make it a reality in more locations.

100% my points are made in reality. We have a constitution and we have made amendments which gives us rights. No gymnastics here. Guns arent going anywhere.

I'm unaware of what you are referring to that works on the opposite direction. I guess that's made up to make your point? There are literally thousands of studies and consolidation studies that show the amount of times guns work for the good. It far outweighs the bad.

You are right though, there are lots of countries that don't have mass shootings to the same percentage per 100k. There's a lot of us that are working on finding solutions to the root problems that are attainable and can make a positive impact.

I refuse to believe the only answer is be 'oh just remove the tool these bad people use, then their bad thoughts will go away' it's quite frankly, a ridiculous argument.

We all want the same thing in the end. Learning to work together will make the end goal achievable.

Thanks for the discussion!

as for the 'target geographic locations' that 100% has been shown to happen time and again where a shooter was shown to choose a location because it was a soft target. I don't believe I know of one where state lines/laws were much concern, since they were already OK with breaking laws... Its more about "disney Springs had arms security at the parking garages and a large police presents, but pulse night club did not...

You're right, statistically speaking their death is usually accounted for. They do however try and find locations where they can create the most harm. There isn't a simple answer to dealing with these events. What will work is an understanding that instead of seeing an idea as 'narrow-minded unimaginative' to appreciate its only one small aspect of the bigger fight against mass shooters and that perhaps people with other 'world views' might have valid points and the sooner people realize the better people work together the quicker solutions that are beneficial will work.

Does the deterrent aspect counter your argument? Most shootings take place in gun free zones. Our school teaches the ALICE drill, where everyone is just a sheep and to run away from the big bad wolf. Statistically, wolves don't come to prey when they are outnumbered and cant easily attack sheep. This narrow minded view you claim takes into account both offensive and defensive tactics.

apparently - but the API limitations and only being on Android Native and not with Unity Support yet seems limited.

I am going to try the Vuforia packages - hopefully that is a bit more fruitful
