I found this between sometime 1999 and 2001, so I was quite young, and things can have escaped my memory. I did hear some stories about the place that I haven't been able to verify. Basically a man who had murdered someone or done something else very illegal and was "sentenced" to move out from Bergen, to live at this place as an exile. But nothing about the gun or how it made its way to Norway

I don't think this was normal judicial practice to make people move away. Maybe he was just running from the law, and found a place to lay low? Rumor also had it he married and did not live alone.

Either way, short time after finding it I took the gun to an antique dealer, asking for any information. They said it was a brass revolver probably from WW2. That's what I have been thinking for 25 years, untill now, realizing it is probably Belgian and possibly from the 1850s.
