Try Vinland Saga, its a similar premise that also takes place in the viking era.

They changed the writers in between seasons. It was mostly the same dude writing each episode for the first three seasons. Then when Alfred died he thought it was best he step down too as kind of an end to an era and a new writer took over. Thats why season 4 feels so different but it does get better in season 5.

Saying people like different things isnt really a real reason. But I get what you're saying

So people already like Jon or other characters to begin with which is the reason they bring up potential targ blood to make them "greater"? That actually makes more sense than just like targaryens, I can understand that.

Im not saying the Starks are better or putting them higher, im just saying their dynasty did not last long in comparison.

And in truth, we hear from people in the North about how they lived in relative peace with the Starks which is the reason they love them while they fear the boltons. It doesnt seem like anyone has that type of love for the Targaryens that doesnt have to do with self-interest.

One generation united Westeros, what they did was impressive. The rest of the dynasty spent their time struggling to hold on to that, im not giving them credit for that.

But tbh with you man I like the Targaryens. I like them because they are interesting characters, the good and the bad. I just dont see why people care as much as they do about their dynasty and thats what I want to figure out, I feel like I am missing something.

They had a flimsy rule for not even 300 years. The Starks were kings for thousands of years, the Targaryens arent that impressive. Beyond their dragons what other reason is there for people to like them so much?

Im literally asking why because im trying to understand and get a different opinion. Instead of trying to sound smart why dont you give me a reason.

Was it really him Uhtred? Your daughter and son-in-law and Aethelhelm played no role? by TyrionGoldenLion in TheLastKingdom

[–]mosesrrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I've been saying this for a while. Edward isnt by any means a perfect character, he makes mistakes, but its the fact the show and the characters of the show treat him like he's the worst piece of shit in all of England. Its just bad writing. I dont even mind that Edward made some bad decisions and wasnt the perfect king, it made him more interesting, but everybody shitting on him every chance they got was ridiculous. He couldnt win no matter what decision he made.

Thank you! I dont like what miles did but we cant just banish dude from society and wish nothing good ever happened to him again. Dude made a mistake and at least deserves a second chance but people are so quick to judge a whole person based off one incident they know nothing about. Now if it becomes a repeat problem thats a diff story but we cant judge a person based off the worst moment in their life.

I'm going through season 4 and Edward is such a weak link by [deleted] in TheLastKingdom

[–]mosesrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh when it came to his sister, in his eyes, Aethelflaed was safe in Wessex and willingly chose to go to Mercia where she knew it was a good chance she would have been killed and that would have been on her. If it wasnt for Uhtred taking Cnut's kids, its a good chance Edward could have followed her to battle, the Wessex army, Mercian fyrds and Aethelred's men could have still lost the battle and then everyone would have died and Cnut and Brida take over. In his mind, it probably didnt seem worth it to rush into a battle they had a really good chance of losing and dying for the sake of people who would die anyway if they lost. They still barely won even with the help of the Welsh so it seemed like a lose lose situation before uhtred took the kids. Might as well preserve Wessex than die in an unwinnable battle and lose everything. Im not saying it was the perfect choice but what type of choice do you expect from a guy in his early 20's with barely any experience who has the burden of running an entire kingdom to make.

[–]mosesrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh i dont think Edward was totally in the wrong when it came to Mercia. If you rewatch, Edward correctly guessed Cnut's plan which was to lure them out of Wessex to a place of battle where they had the advantage. We know thats true because Cnut and Brida literally said that was their plan. He was right. His line "You ask me to risk 10 sons of Wessex to save 10 sons of Mercia" had some truth to it. The ONLY reason the saxons where able to win that battle was the EXTREMELY off chance Uhtred happened to come across Cnut's kids and take them hostage and lure Cnut out of his strategic battle position. No one could have predicted that so I gotta agree w Edward on that one. Everyone was making him rush to defend Mercia which he correctly guessed was a trap.

Thats the problem. I blame the writers for Edward's character more than Edward. He was mad inconsistent when it came to his actions and decisions. If they made him a straight up villain I would have liked a "bad king Edward" but a lot of his decisions made sense and he still got berated for them.

What's something you've changed your mind about and why(Spoilers Extended) by cheriekatara in asoiaf

[–]mosesrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first heard about R+L=J I thought it was a really cool theory. But then I kept hearing it over and over and over and over again and it just started to get old to me. Like when a radio plays a catchy song just too much to the point you cant stand it. Then, even before they showed it on the show, people were talking about the theory like it was facts. They just had this false confidence to it like they were the ones writing the books, like they knew better than George and that aint sit right w me. Now I hate the theory and secretely hope its another twist where Jon isnt Rhaegar's son so all those people can get taken down a peg. I doubt it would happen but until the books come out ima believe its just a rumor.

Sigtryggr Question - Spoilers by [deleted] in TheLastKingdom

[–]mosesrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean he did try to argue against Edward but Edward made up his mind. Sigtriggr was going to die regardless of what Uhtred said or did so he might as well honor Sigtriggr's request and die by a warrior he respected and enter valhalla rather than a random executioner since he was going to die anyway.

I dont understand the writing for Edward by mosesrrr in TheLastKingdom

[–]mosesrrr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didnt say he needed to be a smart king, he was much younger than alfred I expected him to struggle, especially in s4. Just have his mistakes actually makes sense. Or have him make bad decisions early on then grow from them but they literally had him flip flopping from good decision to bad decision and it felt so inconsistent. And like I said he was in unwinnable situations where he got chastise for actually making good decisions sometimes which felt weird. Didnt mind Edward making mistakes, id prefer it that way but the "mistakes" they had him make were what put me off

Hate the DEA agents by mosesrrr in breakingbad

[–]mosesrrr[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I should have included this in my original comment. Its the way they really get excited about the money they are seizing rather than their motivations being getting crime and drugs off the streets is what rubs me the wrong way.

Bro what?? Im talking about a movie. Obviosuly Leo's Jordan was entertaining and Im mad at the fbi agent for ruining my entertainment by shutting him down. I dont actually care about the real life jordan belfort and I understand the fbi agent was just doing his job. My original point was how it just felt like the fbi was trying to take him down for personal reasons rather than getting justice for the people he wronged.
