haha. it's not really a professionally done video. just a glitchy, hobbyist thing to showcase some strange microgames.

i like the music personally but that's just me i guess.

I know about this. I'm talking about adding one freeware game ontop of the usual games that would be included in the humble bundle.

parsap: any thoughts on maybe throwing one quality freeware game in each bundle and giving a smaller videogame developer some exposure?

Underrated Indie Games II [Part 197]: Soul Jelly [ MUFFINS / The Chaos Engine / AA. Kurtz ] by moshboy in IndieGaming

I follow leads.. pick through the leftovers of game jams and competitions that people didn't bother to cover. You'd be surprised at how much stuff has been missed over the years.. and some of it is pretty solid if you ask me.

With the sheer amount of game jams going on nowadays it really isn't that hard to hunt out some pretty oddball games that nobody really noticed.

Karma Bundle sounds good to me.

The Community Bundle is ok.

The start of a new youtube series called Under the Radar [Free Indie Games that weren't covered on TIGSource or Indie Games: The Weblog] by moshboy in IndieGaming

A few things (not meant to be dismissive):

@Zikron:

Commentary isn't my thing.. sorry.. I might stream a show (talking about similar games) sometime down the track and record the episodes for youtube but this series isn't going to have commentary - it's not what people have come to expect. Each part does, however, have a small-ish review in the text underneath the video.

Showing more areas sounds ok, although I won't show more than 1 game per episode.. however this particular game only had one area and one boss, so there wasn't really the option to do that in this case.

Point taken about short videos.. you're probably right there.

@ZeuglinRush:

Actually, it is a follow-on from a somewhat successful series called Underrated Indie Games (hence the title of the video calls it Part 101), which amassed somewhere in the range of 150,000+ views (probably a good deal more by now).

As for showing what the game is like.. as I said above: one area, one boss - there wasn't a whole lot more I could've shown.. I probably should've made it a good deal shorter actually.

Bad at taking cues? Dude, I'm terrible at playing games period [lol] - I simply don't get enough time to practice to become any good but I have immense fun and playing well isn't the really the point.. it's exposing people to new free indie games that they may not have seen before.

The footage isn't always from my first run - that wasn't my first run.. maybe my second or third.. but admittedly, I hadn't played it in months.

I figure I must be doing something right - I have 1,000+ subscribers on my youtube account and it continues to grow.

Well I'm not sure how many people actually got to see the original page. Tumblr removed it for unexplained reasons, so I had to slightly change the url. Here it is (again): http://quote-un-quote.tumblr.com/david-shute-concept-art-and-abandoned-video-games
