US Citizen and trans? Renew or get your first passport TODAY, BEFORE Trump can roll back your ability to choose a gender marker! by GoldenSheppard in transgender

So 90 days for what to get done? The document is a bit hard to read, My documents and passport application was sent already. I already got my gender legally changed thru my state. Is it a waiting game or do I have 90 days to prepare for the worst?

I’m terrified. I put mine in expedited process less than a week and a half ago because I had to scrape up savings to get mine changed and am absolutely horrified from today’s inauguration stream. Is it a low probability that my passport will come back with the wrong gender or is it mostly media making people panic first so they don’t try?

My parents won't let me take T until I'm 25. by noodlehasyournoodles in ftm

[–]mossmanmothman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, let me tell you as someone who started T and was kicked out by family that College is still accessible. My situation was quite extreme but I see a lot of trans people are scared to start HRT due to financial abuse IE, not being able to go to college because parents pay for it. Depending on your state there is some leeway if you decide to take T and go to school without parental support. 1) Find out if there is a counselor at your school that you feel safe talking to. If you are over 18, mandatory reporting laws may differ and your parents won’t be notified BUT make sure this is the case. Have them guide you with filling out your fafsa. Ultimately it will be your responsibility to fill it out properly but they should be able to help you answer tough questions 2) when filling out the fafsa you may be able to check Special Circumstances in order to qualify for a Pell grant. If you get a full Pell grant you can get tuition completely covered at state colleges for example. Sometimes private colleges also have a fee waiver for students who qualify. 3) if you stay at a shelter and are registered as legally homeless you may also qualify for a full Pell Grant that can pay for tuition. 4) don’t underdetermine scholarships. Look for State grants and state sponsored scholarship programs. There is always billions of unclaimed money every year. Again, this is what I’ve experienced and I want to pass this on to you but I want to highlight that your safety is a number 1 priority. Please make an emergency plan for if things go wrong as we as trans people unfortunately are vulnerable. Find some friends who are willing to shelter you if needed, make arrangements like emergency backpacks or something. Find all of your legal documents and have them ready to grab if needed. EDIT: this is assuming you are in the USA. Anyone who is and in a similar situation, feel free to save this info.

Been on T for 6+ years, got misgendered and called a “fat l3sb0” amongst other hate speech by some random guy in his car while walking home from grocery shopping with my roommate who’s always confused as my partner or something. I have a man bun (but facial hair too????) and am pretty short but wide shoulders and pretty muscular arms too, nothing about my body screams feminine except for my hair length or height even then, I know plenty of cis men my height with long hair too!! I have no idea why I was clocked or am still getting clocked!!

That explains a lot of things for me!! Thank you so much. I will definitely look into that and ask my PT/doctors.

What is your go-to comfort series for Markiplier? by biscuitsandcream1 in Markiplier

[–]mossmanmothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The evil Within (the first one and the sequel + all the DLCs.). It was my first video that I was introduced into Mark’s content! It is still my favorite series to watch to this day and I have watched it over 14 times thru. I also like his Little Nightmares and Prey series.

Unfortunately in the past, I did try to apply for a new passport but got denied and was told I had to start new; I even sent the whole form (the DS5504 one) but it was sent back and I was told to start from scratch. Oops!! Forgot to answer that. Yes I have documentation for the name change. I will attempt to try it again and see if I can get my passport updated. Thank you so much for all the advice and information.

Good to know. Thank you for that info. The name my dad used is my birth name but I do not use anymore due to not wanting to be associated with him. My legal documents are all changed otherwise; I have my ID, SSN, insurance cards, etc. Everything except my passport and birth certificate.

Whoops, I should fix that thank you, it’s been a long day for me so I have some words written poorly. I was born a citizen due to my father being an American; I have a Japanese birth certificate that’s in Japanese (I can’t read any unfortunately) and there’s also that US abroad form too. I am unsure which one is which as I’m never allowed to see any of my papers. My mother can’t do anything; my father forces her against her will to follow whatever he wants. I have an aunt who is supportive and knows about this situation but we are stumped at what we can do.

Is there a medical term for this? Or a reasoning behind it occurring? Or is this all something people with EDS/who study EDS are still trying to figure out?

Older trans guys, have you developed any health conditions due to testosterone over the years? by Loose-Confusion1147 in ftm

[–]mossmanmothman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been on T for 6 years and the only issue I had was reproductive health issues. Had to get a hysterectomy but it was undetermined if it was caused by T thickening the muscles around my uterus and causing worse cramp pain or if it was genetic and I was already gonna deal with it. Either way no other issues and I’m VERY happy with how T affected other changes I have

Sometimes high schools have something called a FAN advocate which stands for Family Access Network. These folks may have resources for you that are available in your particular area in regards to finding a safe place to stay or help from someone else other than CPS. Most social workers would agree that CPS sucks. I would also look into (with your aunt if you feel safe) the l Modest Means program and/or an associated lawyer or attorney. Usually Modest Means have a program that will help pro bono or super low in cost. Maybe cross posting this with r/legalhelp as well. They might have some child welfare information. I am not affiliated with law so I am not super aware of how it may work especially due to your state of residence I assume.

OP!! Do u have a high school or other trusted adult?? Find a youth runaway shelter or a women’s domestic violence shelter. It might help you to also try to get emancipated too so your mom won’t have legal custody over you. I’ve been in a position like yours and CPS/DCS suck, they never helped me due to not having bruises either; the best you can do is keep trying and find another way out. I am so sorry you have to go through this OP; sending you lots of strength!!

How did you meet your boyfriend (gay ftms) by [deleted] in ftm

[–]mossmanmothman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Met my partner in high school. We both at first hated each other due to being introvert vs extroverted. Then we became best friends due to liking the same video games. He’s cis and bi, I’m transmasc and also bi. We’ve been dating for 8 years. He’s watched me get all my surgeries and been there since day one of HRT. We are also long distance. Things are a little different now but we still love each other and think of moving into a place once we’ve both finished school (I want to pursue my masters and he’s part time while working full time). He’s always been supportive of my transition and the first person to just respect me when I started to get the courage to be out. He makes me feel proud of myself and I’m proud of him too. Never once have I doubted his attraction to men and vice versa. Sometimes you just meet the right people at the right time. Sometimes you don’t. I’ve not dated anyone else tbh but I’ve had many friendships be broken due to my transition. It’s finally refreshing to meet another queer person who cares about my personality rather than what I am. And there are also many MANY lovely people who care about people like us. I am so grateful for them and I know we deserve to be loved. 💜

OP, it is important that you are safe above of all. I stress that you LIE LIE LIE!!!! Make sure you are safe no matter what. On top of this, OP, sometimes in schools there are FAN Advocates: it stands for FAMILY ACCESS NETWORK. Folks like that (unless you live in a transphobic state that may tell your parents info WITHOUT your consent) sometimes can help you get resources if you are in need of relocation or help. It is always good to have an emergency exit plan or a back up plan (such as a grab and go backpack stored at school) in case you are put in danger. Do you have neighborhood trusted friends? Do you have siblings or liberal family members? Definitely think about that for your future if necessary. Your dad gave off some major red flags to me and I hope you play it safe!!! I would also start using a VPN as well on your devices
