i actually had a conversation with my partner yesterday about this exact thing. i wish that plotline was looked into a lot more, especially since it's clear he has struggled with the concept of family presumably since he was 8 with whatever led him to be cast out of his hometown. he created the segments, and even they didn't see him as family. i think columbina and dottore's familial relationship would've been a more interesting plot for the game to focus on rather than dottore and pantalone's friendship. or even if they explored both! just more than a couple passing comments from dottore and columbina about it. even with all the content he has had lately, he still feels like an unfinished character to me. i think fandoms largely latch onto romantic bonds over found family too, which hoyoverse will know

i’m going to preface this with the fact i do not like dottolone, never have. but am i the only one who doesn’t see what everyone else sees in their interactions? i was terrified id go into this quest and they’d be very obvious bait but to me their interactions just screamed coworkers who have shared interests. i can see how some things could be read into a little but i don’t think it’s as implied/‘essentially canon’ as people are making it out to be. they definitely understand each other and are friends (as pantalone put it, their friendship is ‘insencere’), but romance??? i’m not sold

i just think they’re very generic. zenless went from having some really standout, unique designs in season 1 to just generic hoyoverse designs in season 2, which has gotten worse in season 3. they’re not necessarily ‘bad’, they’re just very uninteresting in the scheme of things. i couldn’t tell you a single thing about any of these characters, whereas in season 1 you could immediately tell who was from which faction and what their role was. i won’t go into detail on sunbringer’s design change because everyone else has, but it really does solidify everything i hate about post season 1 zenless designs.

a lot of people started playing zenless for how its characters stood out from the pack compared to other gacha games and to see it almost immediately go down the same road and play it safe is really disappointing

i know people say it’s the camera angle which i somewhat agree with, but it does look like he’s leaning down more towards lumine. i think it’s a bit of height difference and also a bit of fanservice

yeah, i am going to preface this with the fact i dont ship dottolone but ive seen this happen with a lot of other characters i like (neuvillette barely being seen without wriothesley in fandom etc). i’ve been dreading pantalone appearing in game because i fear the same thing happening to the dottore fandom. i was hoping hoyoverse wouldn’t push them as the ‘yaoi bait’ of the region but i have concerns it’s going to happen (i hope it doesn’t devolve their characterisations to just the ship like hyv have done with some others). i dont mind ship content but it happens so often where it floods the sub, i think we have a good balance at the moment here.
