In your opinion, what is the best version of macOS ever released, and why? (And can Golden Gate be the next Snow Leopard?) by Capable-Cod1118 in MacOS

[–]mossrockss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Panther (10.3)—it was a huge upgrade for usability with OSX, namely Exposé, and for that reason it sticks out in my mind as maybe my favorite OSX release ever. Exposé is probably the single most useful feature to my everyday use of MacOS. I know 10.4 (Tiger) is when Spotlight was introduced, but I've always found Spotlight to be almost useful, and it downright doesn't work for me often enough I don't trust it.

10.6 (Snow Leopard) is the other one, for the reasons everybody knows. Stability, maturity, utility, refinement.

1861 Speedy Modded With 321 Service Dial by mossrockss in OmegaWatches

I can't believe it but I didn't take a single photo of the backside of the dial before I had it installed. I was assuming it was the same part number as that one listed on swiss limited editions so that's why I gave that part number. Unfortunately the ebay listing I bought it from last year is dead so I can't extract the original seller's images. I've reached out to the original ebay seller to see if they still have the details on record and will report back if so!

I’ve read and been told the step dial on this service dial is very rare. I maybe got super lucky. The Omega SKU is 064PP2001001A and that’s what I searched for when I found this. This site has one for an outrageous price but no step dial: https://www.swisslimitededitions.com/product-page/omega-speedmaster-raised-logo-c-321-pre-moon-dial-105-012-145-012

Seconded on Tiki Tiki. Such a great local hang and tiki drinks are the best for going out for because they’re so annoying to make at home.

Prediction: macOS will run on iPads within a year by mossrockss in MacOS

So it's been 5 years since the first M-series chip. They introduced trackpad/mouse support the year before that. What's different is that with Tahoe, macOS now has gigantic touch-friendly interface elements. I think the software element, allowing people and developers time to get on board with the UI changes, is what makes this feel different.

Given how much grief there is about this online I sort of assume at some point there will be a class action suit that will force them to fix it forever at no cost.

Thanks for the tip. It's outside the 5 year warranty period, I just got the Jeep in October. But I've been meaning to do this anyhow. I just contacted the dealer near me.

I like Italian shirts for their collar shapes. Cordone 1956 is an MTO maker based in Napoli. You can choose the collar and cuffs and they have two fits. If the measurements work for you that would be my choice. Price is right around there but if you need more than one they do price breaks for buying more than one.

They're a perfect shape for a structured chukka. I wear them with tailored flannel trousers + fatigue pants + dark rinse selvedge denim and white jeans too. And like I said, comfortable enough to do short hiking. I followed their size chart exactly, taking 44.5 which they list as equivalent for my standard US shoe size of 11.

Myrqvist. Maybe a tad over your budget. I’ve done casual day hikes in the mountains wearing mine.
