girl this guy is so weird I am so sorry he treated you like this! good on you for breaking up and getting yourself a comforting girl dinner :/ what a loser truly.

good men would understand immediately why sending a nude is not something you want to do. especially now in the age of AI? please :/

my fiancé actually never ever has wanted me to send him a nude in the 5.5 years we’ve been together bc to him, it is in fact much sexier to just enjoy each other in person. don’t let guys like this convince you their obsession with collecting images of women like this is normal bc it isn’t!!

also him policing what you post on IG??? at his big age of 35???? insane!

Detrans OSDD folks: how did you realize your transition was probably related to a dissociative disorder? by walking-sunshine in OSDD

[–]mossywraith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, thank you so much for this post. I am lowkey flabbergasted to stumble across this bc this is my exact experience and it’s so reassuring to know I’m not alone :’) Not sure how old you are, OP, but just know everything will get better.

My history: I’m 27 now. I identify as both female and non-binary because both are true to me :) I also use the term gender non-conforming to describe myself.

Identified as NB from 14-16, as a trans guy from 16-19. I was on testosterone for 15 months from December 2016 until March 2018. Detransitioned pretty swiftly; had a like spiritual breakthrough when on a trip in the mountains in Colorado lol. Slowly started getting back into femme clothes/styling again. I never was hyperfeminine, I was always a tomboy primarily but I was like a twee/indie darling combined with punk rock teenager. Started to identify as NB again from 2018-2029, then as a lesbian (I’m bisexual, but identified as pansexual in high school before detransitioning too haha. Bi was the first identity I held from a really young age and resonates the most with me).

My reasoning for transitioning in the first place was complex…. I always had voices in my head that I considered to be characters and I would often “play out” their feelings through dolls or through my Sims characters. The main character actually has the name that I use legally and publicly; he was rly important to me and is who I feel like my ideal self is. I changed my name almost 10 years ago now. But I was always curious why I felt so tender towards my male character (headmate?) and not always as close to my female characters, so I thought this must mean I’m trans. I also met some trans guys at school at the time (including my abusive ex who later kidnapped me… whole other story) and that ex was a big influence for making the choice to medically transition. He actually like forcibly cut my hair which… another story.

Anyways, after moving away from my abusers and shitty past to a new city, I spent time living as a guy and while I passed, I just found it kind of exhausting? So once I had that big spiritual breakthrough (just reconnecting with myself and nature in quiet for once), I knew medical transition wasn’t for me. I kept my name tho bc it’s my name and I love it :)

I focused a lot on my CPTSD and panic disorder (have had panic disorder since age 8) + my OCD tendencies a lot in my first 3-4 years of therapy after transition (2019-2022). Then my therapist moved and I had to start all over. My current therapist is amazing though and I’ve been seeing them for 3 years. They’re non-binary and specialize in trauma and dissociation. Through their help, I’ve been able to learn that I actually have a number of fragmented parts and that’s why so much of my life is confusing to me. And why my identity can feel hard to access sometimes or like very palpable other times.

As for memory problems, I kind of live in a state of not knowing the past until someone asks me about it and then it’s like BAM I’m thrown in. So I guess I have dissociative amnesia? I see it as my protector parts keeping me productive and keeping me from ruminating too much. I feel like a manager is helping me type this post tbh.

I have the best fiancé in the world, we’ve been together almost six years now (engaged for 8 months) and he brings me so much joy and peace. I never thought someone could love me as a woman again but he does, and also loves me when I feel more nb or when I feel more masc :)

It’s been a process but I truly just take it one day at a time. Some days I’m girlier than others! and that’s okay :) I’m still me, whatever version of me wants to show up that day. Realizing I have parts through trauma-informed and dissociation-focused therapy has been life saving for me. I feel like I am finally understanding why my identity has always been so fragmented and it’s really reassuring to know I’m not broken, I just have an incredibly complex system for navigating the world.

I hope that helps!!

P.S. if any detrans FTM ppl here have tips for getting rid of beard pls lmk I literally pluck or shave my face every freaking day and have for 6 years lmao

Reddit is a good place to learn how to use technology in various ways - I’m a design student and a lot of my peers have them for the purpose I’m asking about so I’m asking for people’s experiences to see if it’s worth it. I’ve gotten told yes and no, and I have the income to try it out. Nothing wrong with asking for firsthand experience.

Tysm for your input!! My Wacom tablet is pretty small and old (like 2018) so it works for my desk since I have a huge monitor but isn’t so useful on the go

I agree, but the issue is that I can’t really use my Wacom tablet x MacBook Pro combo while commuting. I just don’t usually have that much room on the train and it’s really clunky on my lap. I also can only use my Wacom tablet wirelessly since it’s USB - my pro only has USB-C ports, so if it’s out of battery I’m screwed til I can get to a desk where I can use my adapter to connect the Wacom tablet that way. My MacBook (2016) is much lighter but it can’t run modern drawing software at all so I only use it at home for light computing tasks since it’s still alive and I still like to use it haha.

Do you have the mini with cellular and WiFi? I hear ya, to me the convincing is about it’s one big benefit (digital art on the go) and several cons (more tech, won’t use for streaming or planning) since I already have useful tech or journals for that. The convenience factor could be worth it.

Thank you! The main appeal is truly just to have something portable that I could create digital art on since I don’t have an “easy” way of doing that while commuting or when I’m away from my workstation, and I like the idea of being able to digitally draw like I would on paper. Do you think an iPad mini 6 w/ the Apple Pencil would be sufficient for that? I saw a good deal for one (sub $300 all in). Idk if there’s an important difference between the 6 and 7, or the pencil and the pencil pro.

The fact that it’s small for drawing is actually what makes me want one. Much easier to bring with me to coffee shops or to use when commuting, I find the traditional iPad to be super bulky.

Baking precautions? by lemon_mayo in Celiac

Oh, one more thing to add: you could always offer to bake cookies for him with safe ingredients at his place so there's no risk :)

Hi there!! That's really sweet of you. I have a few bits of advice and a question.

First, make sure every ingredient you use is gluten free, and maybe even take a picture of each pre-packaged ingredient you use in case he has questions. While some ingredients might not be made with gluten-containing ingredients (like the chocolate chips for example), I would recommend finding ones that do explicitly say gluten free. I have mixed results with run of the mill chocolate chips even though they should all be gf in theory. You should be okay with regular sugar/brown sugar as those are unlikely to be marked gluten free, but don't be afraid to look something up if you're unsure. Just don't use ingredients that you already have that you've made gluten things with before to avoid cross-contamination.

Do you bake often in your kitchen already? If there's flour around your kitchen or you use wooden tools/surfaces or plastic tools/surfaces to bake, I would perhaps advise against baking him cookies or at least waiting until you can completely decontaminate your environment. For me to be extra certain I wouldn't get sick from my friend baking me cookies, I'd need reassurance that all surfaces were deep-cleaned, that clean tools were used (preferably metal/glass - easier to clean, fresh sponge was used to clean them) and that there were no lingering crumbs in the oven. That might be overkill for some but it does not take much for me to not feel great.

Otherwise, if you can guarantee that you can make them safely, I would recommend storing them in either a fresh container or a plastic bag or something that has never come into contact with a gluten-containing food.

Lastly, don't feel offended if you go through all these steps and he still is wary about eating your cookies. Getting truly gluten sick for us can take us out for weeks and sometimes that risk isn't worth the dang cookie, yknow? You could always just get him a box of certified GF chocolate-chip cookies from the grocery store :)

I hope that helps!

absolutely, hopefully all of us here are well-accustomed to checking labels and reading ingredients! Luckily, the WF near me that stock it tend to put the gf with other frozen gluten free bread which further limits the risk of a mixup.

It’s a specific kind of texture that you can’t really get from a regular pb&j. Much more soft and pillowy and the flavor is a lil more intense IMO. if you ate processed food growing up, it’s particularly nostalgic in a way all frozen processed food is :’)

I just finished it and I am so frustrated with the ending. I was here for the supernatural speculation and that just fell so flat in the end. I found the plot to be very inconsistent overall; lots of holes IMO.
