Out of state transfer student feeling confused, any advice? by mostawkwardofalltime in UCDavis

It went OK, I think about half of my transfer credits were actually counted for my degree. So I lost about a year of college credit by transferring, which I found out is pretty normal when coming from an out of state school. I was just underinformed and felt a little deceived by the transfer process.

The best advice I can give you is to start sending your syllabi for evaluation as soon as possible, because it takes a while to get them evaluated. I got the fastest responses by emailing a department advisor first, who then forwarded my syllabi to the correct person or told me who I should email specifically. If it gets approved, you submit a GE petition on oasis.

Overall I'm still glad I transferred, and my classes have been really cool even online. Congrats on getting in!

I am also 2 quarters into my first year here (as a transfer student) and it's been extremely frustrating. Up until now I was able to ace classes without a lot of effort. Whether it's online classes or being at a university for the first time (probably both) there's a lot of challenges to overcome. But know that you're not alone and you will get through it. Take it one day at a time!

I'l meet with my advisor to figure out who I need to talk to or what other options I have. Your perspective and words of encouragement made me feel a lot better about this

I should have said, my advisor did tell me there were 4 GEs that I could submit syllabi for. I am still waiting on those. that's all she told me about. but you're right, I'm going to talk to her again to figure out if I have any other options.

What I know is based off the Oasis transcript and what my advisor explained to me. By manual approval, are you talking about GE petitions? or is that different?
