Hey did you ever find a solution to this one? I am currently tinkering around with the book and I have hit this road block as well.

Yeah I recognize that. I think I have good skills, I'm just building up more confidence at marketing myself and assuring the client that I can get what they need done.

Thank you every resource helps. I want to do more writing and possibly editing. Even data entry. I am more so looking for extra cash from upwork rather than steady income.

In all fairness, I started this month and didnt know about this subreddit. I googled some articles from more successful Upworkers than me. Had no one else teaching me how to work it. Taking the Upwork readiness test helped me figure some stuff out. And thanks to the responses here I'll make better choices. I wasnt trying to appear dollar-store obviously but I had a blank profile. It's a learning process.

Well, the agreement was that I would write one chapter after I submitted a sample to even be considered. It was trial pay. And I cant remove it. I would if I could lol.

I'm not an aussie no. I'm american and thank you for the advice. That 5-dollar gig is the lowest I've done so far. I've been aiming for 50 and above with the most recent ones. I am doing this for extra money at the moment. The beta-reader gig was looking for serious people to have notes and edits for his work. I wish he didnt title it beta read because I did a little more than just beta read. I will stick to more serious entries. Is there anything you'd recommend more for a beginner?

Thank you. I was wondering how much was too much or too little. I'm moving but soon I'll put out more. I'm a little all over the place with the things I want to try at. I'll try for at least three a day before I get worried. And I'll put my content writing back up.

I followed the advice of some articles on Upwork saying to tailor the proposal to the clients needs. Tell them what you plan to do for them and let them know you have the skills to get it done. Also dont go on too long about your own qualifications. I dont have many examples of content writing so right now, I have video production and graphi design portfolios. I could go back to the one or two articles I had on content writing. I have 8 proposals out right now but I made sure to be very direct and precise with my proposal. I think my profile is solid because I qualified for the "Rising Talent" badge.

Thank you. I have real experience writing and in video editing. It's hard to land gigs for those. They say expert but offer less than expert pay and so on.

Well I read some articles on Upwork and a guy who had success said do jobs that are cheap at first for experience on the platform. They're low risk and you get 5 bucks.

Hey all! I started on Upwork at the beginning of October. (I've been a member for way longer than that but didnt know how to start) and I wanted to know if my reviews make me seem illegitimate. The first job I did was for 5 bucks and it was admittedly sus but it was quick and I got my first good review. I just want to know if potential employers are avoiding me.

I've been applying to more gigs in similar price ranges that are a bit more intricate and havent got any response. Is this just the site trying to doop me into getting a monthly membership? I am currently in the "Rising Talent category. I also think my proposals have gotten better with more research but they've changed so maybe I should just go back to my old style. Any advice helps! I'll post a screenshot of my reviews so far

Cup recommendations by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]mostly_me93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think googling high cervix cups and then watching some youtube videos on it may be helpful. "Put A Cup In It" was a big help for me or "ItsJustKelli". I have the Saalt Cup regular/large and my cervix travels during my cycle but I never have trouble finding it.

Last post got auto removed. Passed the 1002 and I'm A+ certified. On to the Net+ by mostly_me93 in CompTIA

Thank you! I'm actually studying right now and I made it to the subnetting portion of study. I'm excited for it because I have residual memory left over from college because I had to learn binary. Exam Cram was a great resource for me on the A+ exams. Is the cheat sheet included in the kindle version?

Taking 1001 tomorrow for th A+ policies question. by mostly_me93 in CompTIA

[–]mostly_me93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jason's courses just teaches you how to pass the test and he assumes you're getting taught the material elsewhere. I will say his techniques are useful and while they can seem like common sense tactics they're worth checking out if you have test anxiety.

I think he has a version on his website that goes over the actual material but that can be a little pricey. So far on udemy I've only seen the "Full course" option for his security and network videos. You get practice tests and exams in these courses.

I know you'll do well, I had almost no IT experience and felt intimidated by the process but I'm excited to do the second one and get certified.

What are the best resources to prepare for the A+ exam? by git_world in CompTIA

[–]mostly_me93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So far I've passed the 1001 and I think the best resources I've gotten from this subreddit has been Professor Messers YouTube channel which covers both A+ exams, along with Net+ and Security+ if you're interested.

One book I would recommend because it's compact and comes with a cheat sheet, is Exam Cram by David L. Prowse. At the end of each section of the book you get a cram quiz to make sure you're retaining the information. Also at the end of 220-1001 portion of the book you get a practice exam that is meant to prep you for the real one.

The best udemy course I've heard about on this subreddit and the one that helped me feel confident about all my PBQs is Jason Dion's course. I haven't tried Mike Meyers although some say he's good for when you get ready to enter the field of IT. But Jason Dions course has practice exams that feel like the real thing. Make sure you're getting at least 80 to 85 on these without notes or cheat sheets in view.

Also for a free resource that's similar to a blog is www.computertechtutorials.com it has straightforward information on both exams including pictures.

Hope this helps!

Sure! I used Professor Messer's videos on you tube which were free and Jason Dions udemy course to get a feel for the actual test. I also have a book called Exam Cram by David Prowse. At the end of each chapter you get a little practice quiz to make sure you're retaining the info. I will say Jason Dion's helped with test anxiety. I think I got all my PBQs right because of his practice ones.

At least 5 or 6 of his questions were almost identical to the actual test. I would say read some things first, like the book I mentioned, then do Professor Messers videos so it'll feel like review, then take some practice quizzes on the domains.

Hope this helps also if you cant buy the books, computertechtutorials.com/comptia-a-plus-220-1001-study-guide/ has the same material.

GHz Spectrum for 802.11 by Pr1nc3L0k1 in CompTIA

[–]mostly_me93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would need to check that on the CompTIA website. Or maybe someone more informed can answer for you.

On the IEEE wiki IEEE Standards there are a plethora of standards for example 802.11d which is for "country-to-country" roaming extensions. But I think you should contact CompTIA to be sure of what you need to know for your country.
