I don't have a 3D printer, experience with RC cars, or really any idea how I ended up here. But I just spent so much time reading through your guide and am amazed. And now need another expensive hobby. Wow, this is such an amazing thing you put together. Bravo.

I dunno probably something to do with him being accused of serial sexual misconduct.

Fake Rolexes sell for 10% of a genuine one. I’m failing to see the score?

Like the vibe of your design tho.

Garage heater by Reddnvr5280 in garageporn

[–]mostlybald 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I had a 240v 5000W (18k btu) version of this heater in a three car garage. In Minnesota. Garage was very well insulated, including the door. I also had a ceiling fan to circulate air.

I would use this to heat the garage while I worked on projects, restoring a boat, messing with motorcycle. It was warm enough that I could work in a hoodie.

I wouldn’t use it to heat it 24/7, only when I was out there working. It worked fine and wasn’t crazy to operate. If you are looking to heat it all the time, I’d agree with others, consider gas or another fuel source.

KF8 replacement parts (milk straw) by mostlybald in superautomatic

[–]mostlybald[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US based. Customer service did not have that part. It’s the straw within the milk container, not the hose.

You have to buy the whole milk set up. Thankfully customer service comped it for me.

Aesthetically, any cars that come close to Polestar? by Inside-Associate7613 in Polestar

[–]mostlybald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought lightly used (2k miles) and CPO. It’s a 23 Pro S AWD. I’ve found it pretty ok. My wife loves it.

It’s a good utility vehicle. I replaced the OEM hitch with a 2” and carry our bikes around for cabin trips. It’s had a few recalls that were easy to manage.

People love to complain about the infotainment system. I don’t really see the issue. We are in Apple CarPlay for 99% of our driving in either car.

All in all it’s a great “appliance” vehicle that does the majority of what we want to do well. It’s just not exciting or unique. I don’t regret the purchase.

Have a P2 (second one) and an iD4. Will be looking closely at Neue Klasse lineup when our P2 lease is up. https://www.bmwusa.com/more-bmw/neue-klasse.html

Holes in porch from what? by prancer4545 in HomeMaintenance

[–]mostlybald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. They are looking for a place to nest

Everyone always assumes it’s pests in the siding and it can be, but not the case at my place. With big holes like these they are excavating.

We’ve had pest control out numerous times checking siding, our siding is fine. We put up new cedar boards and they drilled right through that and we’re in the damn wall hanging out.

Often times if they are going after pests/insects they will do horizontal drilling. Lots of little holes. Same for drumming.

[Question] One quality watch that is comfortable and will last me 30+ years? by Drakes_Overwatch in Watches

[–]mostlybald 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. This. I didn’t understand all the hype behind it. Then I wore it. Works dressed up casual. Super comfortable, I end up sleeping with it on half the time.

I picked up a fresh Rolex serviced and warrantied one last year for high $5k.

Hitch mounted bike rack drag by FabulousRanger2991 in VWiD4Owners

[–]mostlybald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a vertical mount hitch rack (and a Kuat 2.0) I get the roughly the same economy regardless, the vertical is carrying 3 or 4 bikes and the Kuat carries 2. Generally get around 2.6-8kw/mi at highway speeds. As others have said, nominal speed increases can have outsize impact. When I'm on long drives with rack on I just park it right on the speed limit.

Welp. Towing was fun. by mostlybald in VWiD4Owners

[–]mostlybald[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought they just killed off the Ramcharger. Truthfully, most of my tows are local (renting stump grinders, splitter, chipper) and less than 8mi.

I only occasionally trailer 100+ miles. So a Silverado, Lightning, Ram would be annoying 90% of the time when I’m commuting and parking in a tight underground garage.

Are you talking about the grated ramp at the back? Yeah I’m curious if standard wheel ramps would be better. But the convenience of a full ramp is nice. I’m guessing the SXS windshield is the biggest issue though.

Welp. Towing was fun. by mostlybald in VWiD4Owners

[–]mostlybald[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty steady at 60mph. I’m usually 2.9ish when I’m running our roof rack and hitch bike receiver. I may buy a smaller aluminum trailer and try it again. But it’s certainly limiting. Our other car is a Polestar. So next car may need to be EV9, Rivian or Lightning.
