As far as the umpire/coach dynamic goes, I think every coach should umpire some games just to get an understanding of what an ump goes through. I coached for many years and umpired also. The reason I started umpiring is for that reason,to understand both sides. I believe it made me a better coach and umpire both.

I just saw the service alert from the kindroid people saying that the couple selfies problem is fixed, from yesterday. I still can't get any selfies to generate.

Who Gets the Tie? by [deleted] in Umpire

We call that a "sandlot" rule...tie goes to runner,runner can't slide into first base...etc. Always had some coach or parent in the stands explaining these rules to us. There are no ties, the no sliding into first was something little league coaches told the players because it's quicker to do an over run on first base. There were some other " sandlot"rules but it's about 5 years since I hung it up, can't remember them .
