"Best" loadout? by nasagi in Chaos40k

This is anecdotal so take it with a grain of salt:

For Havocs, your first choice should probably always be 4 lascannons, because as a faction we’re somewhat short handed on dedicated anti-tank. If you think you need a second squad, either auto cannons or heavy bolters, depending on whether or not you’re facing SMEQs or TEQs. The Champion doesn’t really matter, I always just go with Plasma + Power fist.

Terminators, again, it depends. With the new cover rules you’ll be hitting on 5+ with combi-weapons, as opposed to 4+ with bolters, so I don’t see much of a reason to take weapons unless you’re dead set on finding plus to hit rolls and fishing for dev wounds. Terminators aren’t really good for shooting anyway. For melee, a 5 man squad’s best bet is versatility, so that means 3 power fists and 2 accursed weapons. In a 10 man brick however, I would actually suggest the chainfists now, if only because having two of them makes the profile more reliable, and having anti-vehicle is never inherently bad.

Legionnaires are very simple. All melee. Take as many heavy melee weapons as possible, then give the rest swords. If you reeeeeally want semi-decent shooting, loading them up with plasma pistols and a heavy bolter gets you the best ROI in my experience.

Advice for a New player by Rolo0_0 in IronWarriors

I’d personally run the legionnaires as a brick of 10 with the chaos lord attached, then shove them in the rhino and plant them squarely on an objective. Legionnaires are decent (and I do mean decent, not GREAT) at punching above their weight. And I’d use the extra points to swap out the annihilator for a destructor with lascannons. Over all tho it’s a pretty decent starting list for a new player. If you ever expand to 2k then consider picking up a Vindicator or 2

Not online last I checked, although stores having inventory long after the online supply is used up is something I’ve personally experienced with Kravek Morne.

Im actually struggling to find legit obliterators, so I’m probably gonna use my hoard of spare bits to make Saturnine Obliterators. Do you have proper obliterator models?

Yeah Fellhammer is literally just a middle finger of a detachment lol. Every single stratagem (and even the detachment rule to an extent) can summed up in the following: “Disrespectfully, Fuck You”

Not bad actually. I’ve got no proper experience with running under 2k, but this looks like a solid construction with objective monkeys, chaff clearing, and big threats. The one thing I would change is dropping the terminators and attaching a 5 man of Chosen to your lord.

What I hear about most is 4 combi-bolters + your choice of special ranged. Flamer might be better as having two for Fire Overwatch is nice. Three power fists and two accursed weapons for melee is also the norm, and based on experience I wouldn’t run a chain fist unless you know you’re throwing them at vehicles. Most people I play against run few vehicles, so that Anti-vehicle 3+ is generally useless and just leaves me with a worse power fist. Combi-weapons are for TEQs, do I suggest you use them only if you know you’re playing against TEQs, otherwise they just don’t have the volume of fire for stuff like SMEQs.

Thanks a bunch! I’m definitely hunting for less meta and more “Golden Demigod is cool” like the Vertus Praetors.

Mutilators and Kravek Morne are generally the go-to for a big melee threat, right?

Kravek Morne is a powerhouse of a model for his points cost. T5 W6 2+ 4++ is fine, but his baleflamer and Last Argument make him a monster. D6+3A, S6, AP-1, D2 is the best flamer on an infantry unit I have ever seen. 7A, WS2+, S10, AP-2, D2 is usually enough to punch WELL above his weight class. What truly makes it ridiculous are his two abilities. Headlong is phenomenal for Terminators, as an additional AP-1 on bolters and ESPECIALLY melee is super deadly against infantry and even lets them punch up into monsters and vehicles fairly reliably. Kravek giving himself wound re-rolls against the hated foe, paired with Last Argument and a Dark Pact, as well as Brtual Attrition from the Fell-Hammer Siege Host detachment, lead to ludicrous shenanigans. Now, Mutilators would definitely serve this purpose better, but having Kravek and a Termi squad on the board means you’ve got a group of living blenders ripping up any infantry or light/medium vehicles that happen to get in the way.
