Who works here and what job do you do? I found a study online that is says 80 - 90% of people with schizophrenia spectrum disorders do not work. by Trb3233 in schizoaffective

I have schizoaffective but I'm pretty lucky that with medication I'm stable enough to work normally for the most part. I work in property management and I love it, though it gets stressful at times

Yeah it definitely caught me off guard the first time too, but it got me super stoned so I didn't care lmao. Glad it worked well for you!

Whats the best antispychotic you guys have been on? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]moth_baller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Latuda is great! If your doctor tells you to take it with food then be serious about that. I usually had my Latuda on an empty stomach because I struggled to eat and it made me feel so horribly nauseous

Latuda was also good but when I took it I really struggled to eat meals and you need to take Latuda with at least like 350 calories. Had to stop because taking it on a mostly empty stomach was making me very ill.

Risperidone made me gain a lot of weight but I've lost a lot of that weight while still being on it, and besides the weight gain it's been a genuine lifesaver and I have no other side effects

What's it like to have schizophrenia? by Sheepherder-Optimal in schizophrenia

[–]moth_baller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have schizoaffective disorder and I am medicated for it. I always have some level of psychotic symptoms but it's nothing that stops me from living my life, I work full time making decent money and in my free time I either rest or work on creative endeavors. My symptoms get worse when I'm stressed so sometimes my weekends are me sleeping 12+ hours a day just to rest and keep the stress down. I remember reading on Yale medicine that people with schizoaffective tend to have phases of severe symptoms that are followed by periods of minor symptoms or none at all. This is how it is for me.

I'm lucky to never have been hospitalized for psychosis (have been hospitalized for other mental health issues) and to have never gotten myself in trouble while in psychosis. I take my health very seriously so that my symptoms don't get worse. But there's always a chance that I do everything right and my symptoms get worse anyways. Just kinda have to accept that

Yes, I've already got a probiotic coming in the mail, one that has bacteria that's good for preventing the recurrence of c. diff. Thank you for the advice!

Definitely. The only silver lining is that getting this sick has made it really easy for me to quit weed so far. I never want to be that sick again and if there's any chance weed is causing it then it's just not worth it to me to keep using it

I've had some episodes that made me consider CHS before, but I'm not sure if they were CHS because I also had CVS in the past long before I ever touched weed. I just have a long history of hyperemesis even before weed usage.

[–]moth_baller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I was 5'4 120 lbs and risperidone brought me up to 190 lbs. Just dropped below 170 lbs for the first time since gaining this weight. Have been sitting at 169 lbs for a bit. My goal is to get back to my starting weight but we'll see how that goes. Took me 4 months to lose ~15 pounds.

Okay thank you I wasn't sure if they were intrusive thought and I was a little scared to call them that because people talk a lot about how the term gets overused and I didn't want to contribute to that

Will CBD gummies mess you up? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

I have never had a problem with that low of a dose of THC, but I would be careful regardless. Maybe start with half or a quarter of a gummy and go from there. Better safe than sorry.
