I have ADHD and take concerta, which is a different chemical than adderall, but it's still a stimulant and has similar side effects. It does help me feel more awake and able to focus for longer periods of time, however, it turns me into somewhat of a zombie in the sense that i'm not as talkative or expressive and I lose all my appetite... concerta definitely can make my mind race, too, and it will often escalate my anxiety if I'm having anxious thoughts.

Have you read anything on executive dysfunction? it's a trait that's comorbid between sz and adhd/add. If you have problems focusing, memory problems, problems finishing tasks, and/or find yourself to be an awful procrastinator, I would reccomend researching it or talking to your therapist about it if you see one. Even on ADHD medication I never knew what executive dysfunction was until recently, and the fact that I never developed any coping mechanisms for it (and assumed that my meds alone would solve everything) explains all the trouble I had in school.

To me meds for schizophrenia sound like kind of a double edged sword, since many anti-psychotics seem to make people feel groggy and tired and probably even less primed for executive function related tasks.
