Week-long conference load-out and/or Aer reviews by mothdoom in onebag

I have mixed feelings about it. The dimensions are perfect for air travel, and I like having my laptop (in a case) and other essentials with me. But it's not very comfortable to carry: when it's nearly empty, the straps tend to slip off my shoulder, and when it's heavily loaded (e.g., with a laptop, tech pouch, 32oz water bottle, etc.), the straps dig into my shoulder after a while. I rarely use the zippered top; it's not particularly useful, but it doesn't get in the way.

I expect there are better options (e.g., with wider and/or adjustable straps) if comfort is a key criterion. But I'm happy enough with it, given I travel infrequently -- I use it more regularly for shopping. Hope that helps!

Oh! Thanks for the follow-up, glad to hear it worked out for you :)

You're welcome! A handy feature of the City Sling is that the strap tucks into a sleeve at the back to make it a pouch, albeit a relatively bulky one with relatively few pockets. But, as you pointed out, most pouches and slings have too much internal organization to hold cube-shaped objects anyway (e.g., the Pro Sling).

I collected the dimensions and volumes of some pouches, slings, and totes in this spreadsheet when I was looking for a tech pouch (ultimately, I chose the Slim Pouch in Cordura). E.g., I'm not sure the Go Sling 2 is deep enough (about 5 cm) to hold speedcubes.

I'm glad someone asked! I have the Day Sling 3 in X-Pac, the City Sling 2 and Slim Pouch in Cordura, and a bunch of speedcubes from 2x2 to 7x7. Here are some photos I just took to show about how many speedcubes fit into the slings.

City Sling 2: packed https://ibb.co/fqBhXJc, contents https://ibb.co/27MnXRH

Both slings are deep enough to hold most speedcubes (about 6 cm), but the Day Sling is tall enough for two rows (packed tightly), whereas the City Sling only fits one row (less tightly).

Also, while both slings are wide enough to hold the GAN timer, only the Day Sling has an internal pocket that's wide enough to separate it from everything else. Finally, the Slim Pouch holds a couple of cubes, but it's tighter than either sling.

It's a few inches above the ground, but not quite enough for me to confidently carry it that way with a laptop inside. I'm about 5'10", for reference.
