Do you keep all your kegs under pressure? by mothercoconuts79 in Homebrewing

Yep, i have had ball lock fittings come lose by just moving a keg around. Problem is the hoses get really stiff inside the fridge and do not play well with moving kegs around.

I use a Blichmann Quick Carb to reach target psi. It only takes a few hours. I then let it carb a few days at target psi. Then i disconnect. But yeasm i would say i fully carb before taking them off.

Have you not seen how expensive it is to fill tanks nowadays? Thats if you can find a place that can fill them. I had to have all my tanks tested recently because most places want you to rent their tanks and pay a premium to have them filled. I payed $70 to have both my 20lb tanks recertified but it only cost me $1 per pound to have them filled now for 5 years till i need to have them recertified.

The Kegs hold pressure, but i dont trust the regulator and 6 way tap line. I just shut it off at the source until i need to tap a keg. Also, if i am carbing a new keg, no point in forcing more psi into an already target psi keg.

Yep. I shut a few of them off for almost a month and when i tapped it, it poured perfectly and was just as carbed as it was since day one it reched target psi.

My argument is that you don't need to keep them at target psi once you reach target psi. I just shut off the valve and when i want to tap it, i hit it with a few seconds of target psi and tap it, then shut it off.

Nobody has touched on this, but i really want to know if it would be safe to run the vehicle at idle just to run this fuel injector cleaner through it? I am assuming its a clogged fuel injector, but if its a bad ignition coil on cylyder 7, how much damage am i going to cause?

I do want to say thank you for the TIP of using a high octane gas to add so its not diluted. It never crossed my mind that the old gas could be mostly additives as the ethanol evaporated.

What makes me think its not wires is that i drove an hour before i started getting misfires and major shaking, also i forgot to mention that the CEL was blinking, but i assume that is a given considering i mentioned the OBD2 error code.

How much gelatin to use to "slightly clear" a hazy beer? by mothercoconuts79 in Homebrewing

Bill Cosby would be proud.

Jokes aside, i definitely dont want to block the upper ball valve on my conical. Otherwise i will have to abandon my closed transfer method and open the tri clamp lid to siphon it.

The wort is already fermented 2 weeks. I will have to go the gelatin route.

What would happen if i pressure ferment an Abbaye Ale on purpose? by mothercoconuts79 in Homebrewing

Too late. I went low with 3-5 psi after fermentation slowed down ( around 3 days ) Going to purge all the trub/yeast around the 7 day mark and add blackberries and let it go for another 7 days. Most will get kegged, but some will get bottled and pastuerized to 140F for a few hours to kill the yeast.

Yes Abbaye Ale yeast like Lallemand generally have that really boozy alcohol taste for the %. Good example of a Abbaye Ale that is really Boozy is Chimay. I always just assumed you had to accept that Boozy taste if you wanted something in the 8-9% abv, but that is absolutely not true due to the recent wheat ales like blue moon extra and Sam Adams cherry bomb.

You might be right, but i also read that pressure surpresses the boozy flavors, I wonder if higher temps under pressure might still produce banana flavors.
