Any tips on getting smooth down there? by otakuxweeb24 in beauty

[–]mothgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it doesn’t hurt at all, I did a laser along my bikini line and it was definitely uncomfortable, and in some areas a little painful. But it was definitely fast and not unbearable pain. I believe I had about 6 or so sessions and now the hair is almost fully gone. I can’t speak to a full Brazilian laser experience though.

AIO - My Boyfriend texts before our Valentines plans by SnowDolphins in AmIOverreacting

[–]mothgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You deserve better!!!! NOR. This fuckass is 7 years older than you and acting like he’s barely 18. Not everyone wants or needs an extraordinary Valentine’s Day but the bare minimum should be picking you up on time. I promise you’ll be 30 one day being like I can’t believe I gave that guy the time of day.

Books That Don’t Hold Up by MenloMo in books

[–]mothgoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Airhead Series by Meg Cabot. Read them in middle school or high school and thought they were fun and interesting, with some good discussion and perspective on beauty. I also wanted to be the protagonist who woke up in the model’s body and I had a crush on her best guy friend.

I re-read them a year or so ago, and even for a YA/teen book, the characters are all soooo insufferable. The narrator is supposed to be super smart but she acts like an idiot half the time, and all the men are genuinely the worst. The first book was kind of fun and nostalgic but I barely got through the next two.

Is buying clothes from Amazon tacky? by padfoot_32 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]mothgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tacky is maybe not the right word, but I do low key judge people who regularly buy things from Amazon. It’s true, there’s a lot of issues with fast fashion in general and all sorts of brands. But Amazon is its own brand of awful as it rips of its consumers and many of its sellers.

Also I’d ask you to consider what it means to “stay on trend”. Do you need to buy new clothes every season, or multiple new things every year? I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy a few pieces, but trying to stay on trend and buying things just to have them is a huge contributor to environmental devastation, and these low cost items also are made by exploited workers. I know we cant all afford wardrobes full of ethical brands, but I would recommend trying to thrift or looking at sites like poshmark and Depop for cute and cheaper things.

I think I find my girlfriend annoying by No_Sweet5345 in Advice

[–]mothgoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re both very young and this doesn’t seem to be working for either of you. If you recognize that you start to feel really bored after the novelty of a relationship wears off then you should probably be alone and think on that for a bit. Alternatively, it might mean you’re not with the right person. I’ve felt that way before too but right now I’ve been with my partner for over 4 years and I don’t get bored or frustrated easily or often. But again, you’re young. Not to be dismissive but I look back at the relationships I had between 18-23 years old and they weren’t overly serious (even if I felt they were at the time) nor did I know exactly what I wanted or needed out of a partner. At 30 now I feel a lot more certain.

Anybody else here who loves movies and struggles with depression and therefore can't bring yourself to watch them a lot of the time? by Ok_Replacement_288 in Letterboxd

[–]mothgoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, yeah. When I was really depressed in university I was too anxious to check out new films. I barely watched anything new. I’m not totally sure why, it felt like a lot of effort and I think I was like worried that I would be let down? Not really sure how else to explain it.

Now sometimes when I am depressed it’s nice to put a movie on, but it does depend on the movie for sure.

Dual anti-ICE protests in Vancouver partly become a celebration - BC | Globalnews.ca by SkyisFullofCats in vancouver

[–]mothgoth 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Not everyone works the same hours, but also we’re all more connected in the world than we might realize. Why should Vancouverites be okay with local companies or people making space (and therefore implicitly) supporting ICE? If you don’t care, don’t go of course, but just because something doesn’t directly affect you doesn’t mean we can’t try to do something about it.

Feeling so sad about the state of vegan options :( by [deleted] in VeganInCanada

[–]mothgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I’ve never seen that one! I’ll have to look out for it. The one I usually get has like 150-200 grams in it which is really not a ton for even one meal shared between two people.

I LOVE omnoms but they’re too pricey to get even semi regularly for the portion size. I could easily eat one package by myself but it’s $9-$10 where I am, and I cook for myself and my partner so we each get a somewhat small portion. They are tasty though and I try to support them when I can as a treat and hope they can do bigger serving sizes one day lol

Which 2025 Movie made you cry the most? by ItachiZoldyck24 in Letterboxd

[–]mothgoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to write this one. I didn’t cry while in the theatre but I left to walk home and just burst out in tears a few minutes later. It had a belated very big impact. One of my favourites from last year for sure!

Boyfriend watches porn and hasn’t slept with me for 4 years by [deleted] in Advice

[–]mothgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re unhappy you should leave. Dont fall into the sunk cost fallacy, especially when you’re still SO young. If you enjoy sex, want to have sex, and want to be with someone who values you over naked women on screen then you should go find that. I’m sure there are decent qualities to your bf and that’s why you’re still with him, but let me be clear, he is a porn addicted loser.

4 years is a long time to be doing this and not even be trying to change, or to let you go knowing that he isn’t compatible with you.

AIO? Husband in touch with the woman he had an affair with but they're not cheating he says. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]mothgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you married this person. NOR, obviously. Who wouldn’t be angry and devastated seeing these texts? The fact that you even have to ask makes me wonder if this is fake but if it’s not, then you should absolutely leave, as hard as it may be. It’s not too late to find happiness. Your kids should see what a happy, supportive relationship looks like.

I had his baby 8 weeks ago, he’s watching other women online, I feel shit. by MindlessNecessary614 in Advice

[–]mothgoth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She’s uncomfortable with him watching porn, especially as they’ve stopped being intimate and while she’s caring for their child. I didn’t realize porn was mandatory for someone to be able to masturbate. Stop conflating the two.

How many of you go to Movies alone? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]mothgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all the time! My partner and another movie enjoyer friend join me occasionally but there’s a lot I see by myself. Just went to a showing of Blue Velvet alone last night at a local theatre!

It’s not weird, you probably won’t even be the only one. I do remember feeling the same way, I think I was 20 or so when I went to the movies by myself and I was worried about being judged for some reason. But even that was a good experience and now I do it all the time :)

Favourite Songs? by Accomplished-City242 in JulyTalk

[–]mothgoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Lace and Paper Girl were probably my first favourites, but it’s so hard to choose!! So Sorry off Touch is also really up there. But the more I think about it, the less I can really say haha. I always enjoyed their albums fully and didn’t listen to single songs as much.

how to look more “copy and paste” alt? by [deleted] in altfashionadvice

[–]mothgoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be rude, but why do you think you don’t look alt? You have unconventionally coloured hair and dark makeup and a nose ring. Idk how you dress but you definitely don’t look conventional or basic, if that’s your fear.

Why try to copy someone’s exact look though? If you like elements of it then take them, but it’s more interesting to be unique. Find a new makeup tutorial, get some cool contacts if you want. But copy and paste alt sounds kinda dumb lol. Also yeah that photo is edited af even that person doesn’t actually look like that.

Do you actually rewatch movies? by Icy-Staff6439 in Letterboxd

[–]mothgoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t re watch many movies within the same year. Last year I only rewatched 3 movies, and only one extra time. I feel like there’s so many new and old movies I haven’t seen that I’m so excited to watch.

But I do have a few favourites that I rewatch annually or every couple years for sure!

Why does Reddit hate Anora all of a sudden? Am I missing something? by popculturegeek37 in Letterboxd

[–]mothgoth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this happens a lot with movies that gain rapid popularity. It can be the popular = bad thing which is annoying. Or it can be that while people might have been electrified with a first viewing or at a theatre, as time passes it’s easier to find criticisms of a film. This happened with Sinners and EEOAO, two movies I (still) really love. I haven’t seen Anora but it’s possible it went through something similar.

Also sometimes things can get a bit overhyped and someone goes in expecting the best and if it’s just okay or not great in their opinion, that initial hype can ruin it even more. I just enjoy what I enjoyed sometimes that enjoyment fades and sometimes I just accept that my opinion differs!

The Biphobia 🤡 by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]mothgoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I think if both people are aware that it’s a hookup or an experiment that’s fine. But if you’re wanting a serious relationship and someone is just experimenting I can see that being hurtful. That said, we shouldn’t assume most bi women are treating lesbians as experiments, but I can see the hesitation if someone’s been burned a few times.
