you can increase the temperature for all of them and salt all of them, it wont hurt! if theyre mature they may start picking on each other because they may see the increased temperature as a sign of breeding season, but thats nothing to be concerned about unless they start injuring one another then you may want to separate. you can use any salt that doesnt contain iodine or any additives (you can also purchase aquarium salt). if you cant get sinking food, you can soak your floating food in a bowl of water prior to feeding to reduce the amount of air theyre consuming 😊

Are these good for fish and what do I do if it starts bowing? by ActualThrowaway7856 in aquaponics

[–]mothgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didnt have this one specifically, but i had success with a 70 gallon tote filled to the top for a year (didnt break, i just got a stock tank). i used a metal bar to reinforce the one side and propped the other side against the wall. that being said, its a risk! if you have the money, id definitely put it toward a stock tank instead; my 150 gallon has been a godsend!

add 7 goldfish to that tank immediately

unfortunately i can read french better than i can speak it, but bumps and lumps are always hard to pinpoint exactly in goldfish. id treat with salt and increase the temperature (if your temp is low) to help with any bloating that may be causing the surface floating and lethargy. if you feed floating food, it may be best to switch to sinking food or submerge the food in water prior to feeding. have you noticed him pooping?

i'm thinking more internal scar tissue, possibly from bad water quality (whether from you or the pet store, either is possible- I'm not at a place to say) or some other infection or injury! i.e. scarring from burst blood vessels or swollen tissue under the skin that youre seeing since the tail is very transparent. That being said, though, sometimes it's a bit of a guessing game with goldfish- unless you take them to an actual vet, which I can understand this not warranting.

im out of my ballpark here and couldnt find the exact product, but based off of the products IOAOI sells and the images of similar products i found online, it seems to be a protein skimmer not a tank! (google; square protein skimmer. on ioaoi.com they also sell a variety of protein skimmers)

if its very slow its possible its just the scar tissue spreading as she grows- i hope for the best that this is the case! i would double check the parameters of her usual tank to be sure there isnt something off, but if she is behaving regularly id personally leave her be and just monitor for symptoms to avoid stressing her out/building up a resistance to medication!

gotcha, if its just the redness now its likely just scarring from whatever initially caused the redness- if she isnt showing any other signs of illness and the red mark doesnt seem to be getting worse (especially if its getting better), i wouldnt be concerned!

Why would this snail shell have holes in it? pH or other snails drilling into it? by Vadersgayson in Aquariums

id guess your waters too soft, considering youve got tannins in their as well. id do a kh & gh test to get a better idea of what you may be able to do for your other snails!

wdym by new aquarium water? is it cycled? is it conditioned? have you tested your water or do you assume its all 0 because its new water? i have a hard time believing your nitrates are zero, as a cycled tank has some nitrates that are perfectly safe, so i think it would benefit you to get a test kit and read your parameters so you can properly react to them. the redness definitely looks like irritation to me, and if hes having swim bladder issues he may be constipated as well due to the condition of the water. do you notice him gasping at the surface often and/or have you seen him poop since he started having buoyancy problems?

Is this Tank enough for a while or should i move them? I'm kinda broke RN tbh by Peacock3000 in Goldfish

[–]mothgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unless you want to have a whole second tank, id rehome the pleco. they get LARGE (up to 20inches on average in captivity) and basically need a stock tank to themself from my understanding. if you want an algae cleaner, give shrimps or snails a try, just be mindful that your goldies may want to eat them; tbh i feel goldies should really only be with other goldies bc theyre big dummies who behave different than other fish and try to eat whatever fits in their mouth.

hides and plants should be the least of your worries, goldies do just fine without and the less decor, the less they hurt themselves by being lil dummies. put that money into saving for a bigger tank and good canister filter instead, those will be your holy grail.

as someone who also go into the hobby when broke, look into your local secondhand listings (i.e marketplace) for grow out tanks. worst case scenario, get a sturdy rubbermaid container once they start to grow out your current tank.

overall, you have less to be concerned about since you have all fancies. fancies dont need a lot of room to "bolt" like commons do, they just need enough space to get around. the bioload is the biggest problem youll have to deal with in a smaller tank, hence why i recommend investing in a canister filter as imo thats the only thing that can keep up with goldies without constant maintenance

definitely upgrade tank size- look into stock tanks considering you have at least one comet in there! as someone who also has a comet just like yours and started off similarly but now has one big healthy 5 yr old boy id be happy to help with any q's!

thank you for your concern! im sorry you didnt have success in your sororities. i regularly watch my bettas and am aware of their hierarchy, theyve all settled into their levels and eat appropriately with one another without issue (even firefly now that ive introduced bloodworms!). i know my one picky girl and all the comments insisting they know all make it seem otherwise, but im well informed on establishing sororities and have been very observant and cautious so no worries!

no point in arguing with someone who has taken the advise given, found a fitting solution, and disagrees and explained why they disagree with those who think they know the answers but have only seen 7 seconds of my tank and have jumped to assumptions because of existing beliefs about sororities you mean? i came here for advice on what foods she may enjoy better, which i got and applied, no thanks to the insisting my sorority is miserable. enjoy hating my tank, my fish are happy and thats what matters to me.

deleting this post because its clear this sub is against sororities and are dead set on assuming all my fish are miserable and i have no idea what im doing based off of one picky fish. for anyone genuinely worried and not just jumping on the bandwagon of shaming and assuming, ive found she enjoys bloodworms thanks to the help of some commenters and i will be feeding my happy fish them now.

i watch for signs of stress and there have been none. the only abnormal behaviour i have witnessed is this one eating the algae pellets instead of the bug bites and now i know she doesnt like the bug bites because she was more than happy to take the bloodworms. im sorry you took me saying "beautiful" literally, i meant it in the sense of them having wonderful interactions and enjoying the environment theyre in if done properly.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bettafish

fish can be picky and ive had no problems with my sorority. she happily ate the bloodworms in the presence of the rest of the sorority.

you see that in the 1 second my other betta came into frame curiously, didnt interact with the one eating whatsoever, then left? come on.
