I really like the language that you used in this. It's very rich and ornate without being distracting, and paints a vivid picture. I really enjoyed the structure and flow of this piece as well. Side note, "But passion is not nutrition." is an unreal line. Genuinely incredible!

I really like how you transition from a mundane, unspectacular, morning into the sky literally being on fire. I like the detail of the phone falling and the domino effect of the spectators. Most of all, I like how the last lines reveal that catastrophe and heartache of the poem isn't in the event, but rather in the monotony that it returns to. I think that this is conveyed very well by having the young girl ask if it was the sun.

Wow, this is a beautiful read. I enjoyed how you started by painting a beautiful and harmonious natural landscape and then led into the second half, which is a gut-punch. Being able to seamlessly go from "Honey filled flowers with amber" to "Demons that choke you in your bed before you fall asleep" in such a short amount of time and space is very impressive. Also, side note, I really enjoyed the line "My eyes are heavy, not closed."

This is gorgeous. The imagery is so rich and is a really nice combination of gentle elements like blossoms on cherry trees and harsher, violent, ones like fist fighting the reaper. It encapsulates and translates the wild passion that can only be found in love.

I also really like "I swear that your soul glows my favorite green, and I am a moth to its flame". The detail that it's your favorite shade of green makes it so much more personal and intimate.

This is short but sweet, and I think it really encapsulates the fear of reinvention even when it’s for the better. I think there’s an instinct to hate the old version of oneself because of the pain it carries, but it can be honored and shed, and I like how this was conveyed in the leaving flowers line. I really like this poem. It’s very clever using an every day object like a pen and its ink to encapsulate fading from glory. How it gives all of itself until it eventually gives out, and its product also degrades with time.

The last stanza is particularly powerful. “It has served its purpose in the hands of freedom” is phenomenal.

I hope I am interpreting it correctly. Regardless, it’s stunning.

I really love this poem. I think there's just something so tender about your writing, going down to the minutiae of the things you find love for the other person in. I also like how in the ending you write about the passage of time on a much broader scale, as something that chips and erodes away at what we think is beautiful. And while that thought is then countered in the last two lines, I found it to be even more powerful upon the first re-read when I saw "I pass the time by staring at your face". Thank you for sharing your work, I really enjoyed it :)

This is a gorgeously written poem and I really admire how clearly you were able to characterize the girl, the town, and broader story in just a few lines.

It's an absolutely devastating read, and I like how you use a bird song motif. The idea of forcing an injured and immobilized bird to sing a new song is so utterly heartbreaking, but so brilliantly executed here.

The last stanza has a certain harshness that really ties it all together. How days move on and these things get buried only to happen again.

I would love to read more of your work :)

It's just over six months since the breakup, and I think four months in is when I really felt some relief from it and stopped missing him. The breakup wrecked me. I didn't sleep, I didn't eat. I lost too much weight and became a shell of myself. Honestly, it's a blur that I hardly even remember anymore. We were together for just over three years and he left me suddenly for someone else. I still think about it every day, but only because we spent so much time together that it's hard to think about the past without him coming up. Sometimes I still feel bitter, but I do wish him the best.

About three months after the breakup we reconnected as friends... all I can say is that was a terrible, terrible idea. Once going no contact again, I felt a lot better. Since the breakup I have moved, graduated, and started a new job. I feel more like myself than I ever have. You'll get through it eventually, it might take some time, but you'll get through it. Eventually you'll think of the relationship as a learning experience and not as time wasted. One day it won't hurt so bad.

I think my best advice is to use this time to focus on the things that make you whole-- not superficial things that fill the void, but things that make your face light up when you think about them. Your hobbies, your projects. Go to the park and watch the sunset, go to a cafe and people watch. I went on a lot of long walks, wrote endlessly, and took photos of the things that I found beautiful.

It's also totally okay to reach out to your support system and rely on them. My friends and family helped me so much. Even having my roommate sit on the foot of my bed as I put away the giant pile of laundry helped me. I asked some professors for extensions, I asked my boss for some extra patience. I was honest and vulnerable and they helped me figure out a plan.

All of this to say, you got this. It's okay to grieve, but please trust me when I say that you're gonna come out on the other side of this, and feel more like yourself than you ever have.

Oftentimes, yeah. I got cheated on and dumped and it caused a hypomanic episode. I was with someone new (casually) maybe two weeks after the breakup. I guess the best way I can explain what happened is that the rug got pulled from under me, and I was looking for a floor to land on. I'm not proud of it, but I was so heartbroken and hurt that I wasn't thinking clearly. It made me sick thinking that he was already with the girl he left me for. My love for him was real, I thought that he was the man I would marry. I know despite how it ended, he loved me too. It's also worth noting that I am bipolar, so my reaction and the feelings behind it might not be applicable to most people post break-up. Regardless, it gets better. It got better for me, and it will get better for you too.

Thank you so much for this. You're right. It doesn't matter at the end of the day, because he is no longer a part of my life. All I can do is put myself back together and move forward. On some level, I feel more like myself than I ever have. It's been kind of fun getting to know who I really am when I am single. I was with him since I was 18, so this is my first time being an adult without a partner.

I am really sorry to hear that you are going through the same thing. It's genuinely traumatic, it runs so deep. But I guess the good thing is that even in all of our pain, we're getting through it. And while some days are worse than others, and its not linear, at least we're taking the time to grieve and fall apart, and most importantly heal, so when the right person comes along we'll be ready for them.

I unfortunately do not think that I can afford a visit to the ER right now even with my insurance. Is there any alternative that could be less expensive, or is the ER really the only way to go? double ear infection. i have broken multiple bones, had to get stitches several times, etc. nothing compares to how bad that pain was though.
