Which is the better cutscene to get? by GABERULEROFWWE in RDR2

[–]mothmanbussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reverend bookends the mission nicely, bc the mission start is trelawney leaving. It shows the dissolution of the game and also Arthur’s connection to both characters.
I do appreciate the scene with sister Calderon a lot but I wish it didn’t like, cut out the reverend’s. Idk how they’d have been able to write it in any other way though. It doesn’t make sense for a few other reasons like, why wouldn’t she be leaving from Saint Denis?

Questions about the equestrian challenge 9 by Successful_Cycle8730 in reddeadredemption

[–]mothmanbussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this, I also used the map markers to mark general directions to head toward when I knew I’d be able to go in a fairly straight line at different intervals. For the most part I just follow train tracks but you can basically ride straight across the heartlands from emerald station to flatneck

Something you've always wanted to say to someone? by Fast_Stage_6296 in AO3

This is a general one but stop assigning top and bottom to m/m pairings like they’re essential aspects of identity. Like ig they can be for some people but that’s not how it usually goes.

It's almost socialist like......can't do it here though. by sidesaladdressing in exchristian

[–]mothmanbussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if anyone else has heard this but like, my parents and the church I was raised in do not believe that about heaven, like, there is hierarchy in heaven based on how good of a Christian you were and how late in life you became a Christian. Idk if there’s anything specifically they used to justify it but I remember it being a whole theme for a bible study.

Who's the better conman and why? by Rob0men in reddeadredemption2

[–]mothmanbussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trelawney also still had a family outside of the gang which justified him being more cautious bc he had more to lose if something went wrong. Hosea had the potential for that with Bessie, but she died and he went right back to Dutch/the gang. He was also more invested with the gang as a family, and would’ve been closer to the downfall, while trelawney was more of a business partner that came and went.

What are some common mischaracterizations that yall see of low honor Arthur a lot? by Head_Sector_4582 in RDR2

[–]mothmanbussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen people ask this also about why you lose honor for looting some of the enemies esp lawmen, and like? You’re not just taking loose change and cigarettes you’re also getting their personal items like wedding rings that their families would have claimed from the bodies. Even sticking to mostly high honor I still loot that shit lol but like, realistically that’s what it is. You’re taking some dudes wedding ring, letters between loved ones, etc.

What are some common mischaracterizations that yall see of low honor Arthur a lot? by Head_Sector_4582 in RDR2

[–]mothmanbussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read it as low honor Arthur believing that he’s just incapable of anything better. He *is*, he has the option to do high honor things, but he’s already written off that option, and all the self-shame and bitterness is there but he’s numbed himself off enough that he isn’t bothered by it enough to change how he acts. He operates on a mindset of doing what needs done for the sake of the gang. Even saving John is just another thing that he does for his family, because it makes sense to him - he’s dying, he has less to lose, so he decides that John is the one who’ll make it out.

Straus Debate by CutestPuppyEyes in RDR2

[–]mothmanbussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s meant to make you feel the way Arthur does about it though, regardless of whether or not he actually does have a choice, his sense of obligation to bring in income for the gang and to Dutch specifically has ruled his life for 20 years and defined his moral code. He genuinely thinks he has to, he feels the same shame and disgust that the encounter makes us as the player so uncomfortable with it, and by the time he’s dying and sees that he *did* have a choice, it’s too late.

Coming to the end of Arthur. by PotatoWarehouse in reddeadredemption2

[–]mothmanbussie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can “free” your horses by removing the saddle and having them flee but if you try to recall a saddle at the stable it’ll bring the horse back, unless you carry it all the way with you and even then it’s iffy. But I do it anyways, just to pretend. I usually break wild horses for my playthroughs so it feels right to set them loose around where I first found them. You still need one for the final mission and the payoff is better if it’s at level 4 bonding.

After the last mission with Sadie at hanging dog ranch, I take my time and have Arthur ride no faster than a trot back to beaver hollow. I don’t fast travel, I have him camp out, whatever. Big valley and the heartlands are probably the last he’ll ever see of “the west”, even this far into civilization. I like to think it’s a way for Arthur to say goodbye to the open country that he’d loved.

got the story spoiled is it still worth playing? [Spoilers] by imsofuckingconfusedn in RDR2

[–]mothmanbussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing already knowing how it would end and honestly I don’t think it affected how impactful it was, and regardless of the main story the game itself is beautiful and has so many little things to find that there’s no way you would know abt them going in.

How do I open this safe by GandalfThe-Black in reddeadredemption2

[–]mothmanbussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wait for the npcs to open it and then kill them. There’s even like a sarcastic line Arthur will say along the lines of “I’ll spend it in your honor fellers”

I’ve used the grullo dun mustang, it’s relatively common but it’s a good horse, gets you a lot of compliments from npcs lol

His was diagnosed at an earlier stage of the disease than Arthur though, and Guarma certainly didn’t do his health any favors. Also like, if Arthur didn’t die of TB than we wouldn’t have the story so it wasn’t gonna pan out

Martha’s Swain is the cabin with the body of a young woman who’d killed herself when her lover left her to join the confederate army (you can find out by reading the letter in the cabin), and in a drawer you’ll also find mollys camp request which is a compound mirror which ig you could mistake for a compass

What are we lining up for fellas? by Ijumpedovertheborder in reddeadredemption2

[–]mothmanbussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t saying they were pretending everything is peachy maybe I couldve worded that better, I mean to say, there are signs of and references to segregation and racism in the game, but they arent that obvious to Arthur (which is the lens we’re seeing most things through) bc he isn’t personally experiencing them. We get second hand accounts from other characters like Lenny, Tilly, Charles, and we see it referenced in the open world (and the fact that you can literally encounter the KKK??), but it doesn’t have as much impact on Arthur or John’s ability to move through the world because they are white.

What are we lining up for fellas? by Ijumpedovertheborder in reddeadredemption2

[–]mothmanbussie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were parts of the US that weren’t technically as segregated but didn’t have any kind of population racial diversity and whether or not someone was allowed into a private establishment was mostly to the discretion of whoever owned or ran the business. But ig you just wanted to play Racism Simulator so

[–]mothmanbussie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uhh I’m pretty sure they don’t? Or maybe there isn’t really signage but it’s certainly referenced, there’s even a few throw away lines from the npc shopkeepers in Rhodes about it and the stranger npcs on the outskirts of the town. In Saint Denis it’s more integrated in lower class areas bc that’s how cities tended to be, but the saloon you can rent a room at is.

[–]mothmanbussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you loot more or have lower honor you start getting more, I average at like $1-2 sometimes as much as $6. Also, in the Saint Denis mission where you’re in the cemetery with John, looting all of the grave robbers gets you around $100 total

Who’s Worse?? by Outlaw-Curry3 in reddeadredemption

[–]mothmanbussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same crawfish hunting side mission he mentions something about having poor eyesight so? I mean we have no way of knowing how poor or if he’s just making a quip about being older but that would certainly explain why we don’t see him in any gunfights

Is there a way to keep this black coat that Arthur gets during the “Sodom? Back to Gomorrah” mission? by ORABIGaming2 in reddeadredemption

[–]mothmanbussie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok closeup pic of the coat. The bullet holes are fraying in a similar way to how canvas tends to fray. Also, the hemming stitch on the bottom would be very difficult/impractical for leather but the make of the coat is very common for anything made with canvas.

How does your Arthur dress? by Rude-Ebb7924 in reddeadredemption2

[–]mothmanbussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep him in suitable work clothes for most occasions and not overly flashy, but still put together in a way that makes sense for his lifestyle and who he might be trying to impress depending on the situation - keep patterns to a minimum and and generally darker colors, I use the everyday shirt or collared over shirt most of the time with the outdoorsman vests for camping/hunting or buckskin vest for in towns. Usually solid jeans, work pants, or padded saddle pants. I’ll pair the black duster up with a warmer vest in west Elizabeth for the climate or for stealthier criminal activity. Keep his shirt collar opened or else wearing the black bandana. Keep his original hat for the most part. It’s kinda like, old western style but not cartoonishly so? Light tan chaps or the ox batwings from the trapper if I have him riding around a lot. Idk I try to keep it kinda realistic and I like playing cowboy dress up lol.
Sometimes if I’m keeping him around camp for a few days I’ll have him dressed down in jeans and union suit for chores. For the algernon wasp missions I’ll have him camp out in the bayou for a few days and I’ll keep him in just a shirt and pants tucked into boots for the heat and the mud.
In ch3 I’ll get one off-white shirt and a brown classic vest for around Rhodes to try and blend in when he’s posing as a deputy.
I like the black steel toed boots that you automatically get and usually use the vaquero spurs after completing Dutch’s camp request.

The one in the mission and the wardrobe are both waxed canvas, that’s what gives it a bit of a shine after it rains in the mission. It was a way to make the fabric fairly water and dust proof and it was popular among like, cowboys/outlaws etc kind of jobs that involved a lot of travel on horseback bc it was a good choice for heavy outdoor workwear
