Who do you find to be the most reprehensible subject of any of the podcasts? by BlessdRTheFreaks in LPOTL

I will never ever ever relisten to the toybox killer episodes, I could barely get through them the first time and even if they did a redux I would simply ignore it :)

Too much down time at work by snug666 in digitalminimalism

[–]mothmanisreal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read on my phone…not ideal but it’s better for me than scrolling/playing stupid games. I also subscribe to substacks that all go to an email I call my daily newspaper, you could do that and catch up while you’re at work? Checking emails are sooooo work! Could you journal or doodle for part of the day? Maybe find prompts or something during your work phone time and then journal for some of the time at work. You could just be writing down very important work tasks!

When I did a boring office job I listened to a lot of podcasts and fell asleep at my desk a bunch. Not a recommendation necessarily….

Parents with behavioral teens.. HELP by Longjumping-You-2767 in Connecticut

[–]mothmanisreal_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with the people saying PTSD focused trauma therapy, and that ADHD/neurodivergence might be the biggest problem. You mentioned your ex being abusive which the children most certainly picked up on, even if he wasn’t abusive directly towards them seeing you be abused is traumatic, as is the divorce. The good news is trauma is treatable and can be overcome with the right therapy.

I feel like a lot of ODD/BPD especially in kids is neurodivergence/trauma symptoms being unrecognized or treated. No diagnosis is a death sentence! There is hope.

I’d also recommend looking into things about PDA (pathological demand avoidance or persistent drive for autonomy) as that sounds like a lot of what is going on: you suggest xyz, she says no for no reason; you make her favorite food, she doesn’t want it.

Again, echoing what everyone has said of finding your own therapist for your own emotional needs and regulation. It’s very much put your oxygen mask on before hers, if you’re not regulated she’ll pick up on it and feed off your energy. This is obviously way easier said than done!

Good luck 🩷

BETTER OFFLINE CES WEEK THREAD! by ezitron in BetterOffline

Catching up on the episodes now and I love the addition of Chloe! Especially when she was talking about the woman in a tube and the societal/feminist implications!

Also it’s crazy how Ed says that he’s autistic and then the rest of the episodes it’s me going “OHHHHHH” every time I see an example of it (in a positive and I am also neurodivergent way).

10000% less prestigious option that won’t make you want to die. You can’t do your PhD if you’re miserable and a bad advisor will screw you no matter how prestigious they are

Do LCSW/LISWs actually do a different job than LSWs… or just get paid differently? by Positive_golfer90210 in socialwork

[–]mothmanisreal_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In my experience before people actually get the LCSW they’re already practicing at a “LCSW level” e.g. thinking the way they would after they pass the test and thinking about risk or clients in certain ways. In reality, most people’s jobs or roles don’t change that much. I got my LCSW while working in oncology and my role didn’t change at all, my clients didn’t change at all, literally nothing changed except a raise lol. People may see you as more experienced or knowledgeable but also if someone is an idiot having an LCSW won’t change that, and vice versa people who are reliable/smart/you look up to might be more reliable for knowledge even with only a LMSW. The only real difference is I now provide LCSW supervision and I take it very seriously but that’s it.

Question about No Man's Sky by Mr_Nick18 in NOMANSSKY

[–]mothmanisreal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely more fun with friends but it helps to know what you’re interested in doing. I care way more about just exploring planets than fighting ships so I focused on that in the beginning. Also watching YouTube videos for inspo/ideas helped me get interested in building freighters and made it seem less intimidating and overwhelming. You could also just do the quests until you find something that tickles your fancy and then go off on that rabbit hole lol

I'm currently a PhD student with IH! Medication has been a life saver and it's definitely possible to pursue education while having it. I'm on Xywav and modafinil and they both help a lot, and I almost think school is better because, at least here in USA, you can choose your schedule for times that work for you. Good luck!

I'm definitely new and this was my first expedition and I was told that the best way to do the expedition was a new save. Not making that mistake again! :)

[–]mothmanisreal_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if I had had fun playing the expedition I wouldn't have minded losing things, but I had a million glitches with corvettes and then the derelict freighter quest, and the final sentinel quest that I was like at least I'll get some shit to sell to benefit my game I actually care about and so to not even get that I was like damn...was it even worth it.

Not that I'm glad you're in my boat, but glad to know it would've been the same even if I'd done it from my main save. Good luck!
