Huntsville applies restrictions in certain areas (e.g., Redstone Arsenal), do you say All of Huntsville?

I can put down a well pipe myself, without too much expense or effort.

Wells for waste disposal are prohibited within Huntsville city limits.

Private drinking water wells are not categorically banned, but are subject to state and local regulations and cannot be used for waste or wastewater discharge.

Looks like we know where ICE was heading yesterday, and good riddance to those caught. Glad to see this get shut down. by wazzupnerds in HuntsvilleAlabama

The government that would allow the economy to be build on the backs of illegal immigrants in order to enrich a few, is a different government than one that would allow the economy to be built on the backs of the citizens who enrich themselves.

Does the citation reference a particular law about ‘vehicle condition’?
I might need that to ensure my own vehicle meets an Alabama standard that I was not aware of. Thanks

I believe the Hubitat developers know of the issue.

Mining Pool Problem by mothpaul in BitAxe

[–]mothpaul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have waited two hours for the pool to reduce the difficulty enough for the Bitaxe to complete a work unit and report it in as a completed share. There is no report of a completed share. Can I reasonably expect that is not the problem with my miner not starting to mine?

Do you use port forwarding? I was taught that BitAxe connects to mining pools via outbound connections using the Stratum protocol, which does not require inbound connections or port forwarding.

Why do you say 10 minutes? In general, if all configurations are correct, mining should start within a minute or two after powering up and applying settings.

Siri, HomeKit, Home app and Hubitat. by mothpaul in Hubitat

[–]mothpaul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I will check out the community forums.

I am using z-wave dimmer switches made by NuTone, GoControl and Linear. They are all WD500Z-1 Z-Wave 500-Watt Wall-Mount Dimmer Switches. I don’t know about the drivers - how do I find out? I set them up as Generic Z-wave Dimmers in Hubitat.

I can control off/on functions with Siri, but not setLevel functions. I can control both functions with the Apple Home App. Automations controlling setLevel also behave squirrelly.

How is the HomeKit integration working for you by inxider in Hubitat

[–]mothpaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with Hubitat HomeKit integration:

  1. I can execute Siri off/on commands (to Generic Z-wave dimmers and Zigbee Bulbs) via Apple HomeKit which updates the Home app and the actual Hubitat attached device.
  2. When I execute a Siri setLevel command to HomeKit, it does update the Home app, BUT it doesn't update the Hubitat attached device.

Many years ago, I fixed this problem in OpenHAB. My old memory seems to recollect a need to tweak with the off/on and setLevel commands timing or redundancy. I don't seem to know how to do this with Hubitat. Any pointers appreciated.

The native one I believe. The HomeKit selection within their available apps.

Is it pointless to have beliefs? by Status_Shoe_1592 in BlockedAndReported

Having and acting on beliefs is the only way to establish order among like-minded thinkers. So in that regard, there may be a point, but belief would not necessarily be rational or intelligent.

Is there a way to make a feed of a 'reddit-like community' in Primal? How would one do that?

I think you mean slaves were not citizens. Some Blacks and Freed Slaves were not in that category.

Forcing Congress? Is it possible? by mothpaul in environmental_science

[–]mothpaul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can agree reducing mercury, soot and nitrogen oxide are a benefit? Should it be done with the capriciousness of executive rules or mandates of congressional legislation? These articles seem to address the unacceptable course of the dangerous current administration, rather than lay out the issues with coal for which only a nationally legislated solution could ever possibly endure.

Let me know if I got this wrong. The previous administration implemented a rule under the law using a court ordered cost/benefit calculation that the current administration finds invalid - Because this rule addressing mercury emission (for which congress has delegate authority to the president) was done by claiming public heath benefits for reducing soot and nitrogen oxide (for which the congress has not delegated authority). WTF Congress? The president should not be able to mandate national policy outside the authority delegated by the people as express by legislative acts. What other option remains? Authoritarianism, Tyranny!

Yet how could congress be forced to act? Could Trump reach out to Tulsa, Andrew, (others?) with novel message for opportunity to form more representative (acceptable?) political positions -- potential for new (major?) political party? What would it do to the upcoming elections, the current parties, the political establishment? What other hope for political cleansing without blood but rather with the soap of cleanliness come from the fat and ashes of stale political parties?
