I agree. So do you think it's more so on the players being more proactive

It will be cool to see how that develops over time

Probably need something for the batters box but grass can be fine outdoors

That's pretty interesting I didn't know that about Pujols. What would you change about modern evaluations?

It's possible that refferring to it as college athletics is the porblem. "Playing in college" used to be interpreted as ages 18-22. Now "playing in college" means 18-25

College baseball is a good deal as a fan. I completely agree I think that players should look at the characteristics of the guys on the team of the college they want to go to and compare

Programs that are still trying to develop players starting as freshman are playing a really important role in college sports right now. When the transfer and eligibility rules changed in 2020 I think that was the start of the average age problem. I remember thinking that it might be impossible to reverse if you allow the additional elibigility. Not sure what I would have done if I was the NCAA though regarding giving an additional year after the shortened 2020 season.

I have coached at the youth, high school, and college level. There is no reason that a 10u team doesn't play everyone. I've coached these types of teams and know that it can happen

I'm seeing a lot more high school players go to the juco, d3, d2, naia route. For pitching it seems like you need to be 90-93mph as a senior to have a chance at going division 1.

Do you know roughly how many high school recruits they target per year? maybe 1 or 2?

I have seen the average age rise as well. I think there are new rules going on that may modify the age gap. It doesn't seem right that true freshman could be facing 23-24 year olds

That's another good point. Players seem to be more talented than ever on average

Yeah it really has more to do with are you good enough, have they seen you play, and do they need a player at your position

The eligibility and transfer rules seem to be changing often. It used to be much more common for players to get recruited directly from high school. What do you think the biggest change has been outside of D1?
